Re: AA-230 ZOOM Bluetooth
I too have issues with their bluetooth. It is tricky, with no repeatable results.? ?I kinda got it working.? ?I emailed PNC engineering (my vendor). Here is what the chief engineer said:
Thank you for your email.? Each windows operating system is different and has different ways of getting the analyzer to connect properly. In order to connect the analyzer to the computer via Bluetooth you can not use the "Auto" setting on the AntScope2 software.? With the PC Computer, in order to make a communication connection it must first create a Virtual (Comm) port. Once this is done, you must then go into the settings of the AntScope2 software and set the communications port to "Manual" and then select from the drop down box the correct comm port your computer has created.? This is where most people make their mistake and become confused on the "boards" you are talking about. Admittedly, sometimes it is necessary to find the correct 'launch' process so your computer finds the analyzer using AntScope2.? In other words, some time you will need to turn on the analyzer, and then launch the software, or perhaps launch the software, and then turn on the analyzer in order for them to find each other, even when the system says they are already paired. As for the android program, once you have paired the phone to the analyzer (and disconnected from all other devices, only 1 device can pair with any Bluetooth device at a time) you should be able to push the "connect" button in the Android AntScope2 program and everything should connect up without an issue. It is possible, depending on your android phone/device that it has a compatibility issue.. Although I can not say for sure not knowing which one you have. Hope that may help.? I do think you are in uncharted territory with windows under linux. 73/GL Carl KP2l |

AA-230 ZOOM Bluetooth
I just received my new AA-230 a couple weeks ago. I can’t get the AntScope to connect via Bluetooth on my OnePlus 8 or my Samsung G9. When I go into my Bluetooth settings the AA-230 is listed but no matter how long I wait the little Bluetooth icon just spins. It connects to my friends iPad no problem.
I thought I would try to update the firmware. However, once the AA-230 back light starts flashing the software freezes for several l minutes resulting in an error that says “?Can not set device in boot mode”. ?The firmware update software does not indicate what version of firmware is available so I have no idea if I need an update. ?Not sure if it matters but I don’t use MS Windows so I created a vertical environment using Windows 10 running on Linux.? Any suggestions will be very much appreciated. |

IIRC, there is some depot in Tx for them.? Maybe contact DX Engineering and ask them.

Re: Bluetooth problems AA-55 Zoom
Yes. I also have a AA-55 zoom with the bluetooth option.? I cannot connect via bluetooth to antscope on my laptop or my tablet.? The unit pairs properly,? but does not work with antscope.? Connection via the usb cable works ok.
I am also puzzled that when I pair the unit to my laptop, in windows device manager, it shows two comports associated with the bluetooth (AA-55) device.? ?Yet in antscope settings, you can only select one com port. Neither work.? Am I missing something here? Carl KP2L? |

Bluetooth problems AA-55 Zoom
I have had problems with the Bluetooth feature on my AA-55 Zoom since I bought it last year.? I am running the latest firmware 1.20.
?
Here is a summary of the problems.
?
1.? It will not always connect to Windows 8.1 or Windows 7 via Bluetooth.
?
- It always connects with the USB cable and I have no problems running in this manner. With Bluetooth I have to power it on and off a few times in order to get it to connect to Antscope2.? I have used the internal laptop Bluetooth and an external Bluetooth dongle and get the same results on both.? It always pairs OK it is just data transfer that is a problem.
?
- I also have An Android tablet and it connects to that device much better but has data transfer issues.
?
- I tried to run the iPad app but it will not connect at all. I read that the Bluetooth module is not compatible with iOS
?
2. Dropping data.
?
- The link is not reliable on Windows or Android.? It is OK with only 50 points of data transfer but with more points (like 200 or 500) it drops data and you can see it as straight lines on the plots.? When using Antscope2 on Windows I can also tell when it has dropped data because the spinning circle will keep running and I have to press single again to stop it.
?
- I have attached an Android screenshot and a Windows AntScope2 plot showing the missing data dropouts.
?
What I have done to find the problem
?
-? As mentioned above I have tried different Bluetooth dongles and operating systems and get the same result - missing data on longer transfers.
?
- It is NOT the Antscope2 program on Android or Windows.? I know this because I used a serial communications program in Windows to access the AA-55 Zoom .? What I did was issue the "ver" command and looked for the response from the device.? As I mentioned above sometimes it would not connect.? But once it did I would send the command "frxNNNN" to get the data.? With NNNN =50 it works just about every time.? Above that it starts to drop data and with NNNN = 500 it always drops data and this can be seen clearly on the screenshots.
?
-? ?I am only 1 to 2 meters away so it is not? weak reception problem. So my suspicion is that there is a buffer overrun on the Bluetooth link.? Maybe the Bluetooth module is not configured correctly to accept data and is losing characters.
?
I have seen others report having a similar problem with the Bluetooth in this group and on the RigExpert Facebook group. I sent a copy of this report to RigExpert support a week ago but have not heard back from them? ?In general I find the AA-55 to be well made and very useful device and hope that my Bluetooth problem can be fixed.? I suspect it is a firmware timing problem.?
?
Have any other members of this group had the same problem?
?

Thanks, I discovered this on my own after I posted that info. I found in the device properties there is an option to check to load VCP. I did it and rebooted and then every thing was back in order. Thanks for the help and guidance. On Thu, Sep 10, 2020 at 8:46 AM Alex RigExpert via <support=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: 50 or 75 ohm options on AA-54 ??
Nolan - KI5IO
Alex,
No matching device with the Butternut HF9V.? 50-ohm feedline from TRX connects directly to the 75-ohm matching coax to the base of the HF9V. I'll be using the 50-ohm setting on my AA-54 as that is what I used when I tuned up an earlier HF9V that I rebuilt many years ago. I also got input from many Butternut antenna users that further explained a couple things for me as that is the proper path to take in this case. Tnx much. -- 73? -? ki5io Nolan Kienitz Plano, TX |

50 or 75 ohm options on AA-54 ??
Nolan - KI5IO
I'll be using my AA-54 to tune my new Butternut HF9V.
This antenna has a 75-ohm matching coax feed (approximately 11-feet long) at the base and that is what I'll be looking through for the intial tuning.? I'll be at the antenna base and will save many trips in/out of shack. I'm assuming it would be best to use the 75-ohm setting on the AA-54 when looking through the 75-ohm matching coax for this intial tuning? The feedline from my rig to the 75-ohm matching section is 50-ohm and when I tuned a prior HF9V I just used the 50-ohm selection as I was doing all the readings in my shack through the feedline to the matching section into the antenna. Just thought I would reach out seeking some thoughts and input. -- 73? -? ki5io Nolan Kienitz Plano, TX |

I have the AA-520 and it was working great with antscope (not antscope2) on my Win 10 until Sep 3 when an update was pushed down. Now when I connect the 520 to the pc, antscope finds the 520 on com port 243238927 or some such long number. When I open the?device manager, the only thing I can find that is related to the AA-520 is listed under 'view/devices by container'. It shows RigExpert AA-520 and inside that is, USB Serial Converter.? I have deleted and reinstalled both the software and the drivers, but nothing changes. Have tried the Antscope2 but it does not work with my AA-520. On Mon, Sep 7, 2020 at 7:36 AM <1bryaneaton@...> wrote: I can't seem to get the app to work on Windows 7 or 10. |
