TNC-Pi9k6 will not register on linux using aplay -l and arecord -l commands

I am attempting to set up this TNC board with programs like direwolf and JS8 Call. However, when I attempt to configure it I am unable to find the TNC on Linux to set it as the device for the programs to use. any ideas on what's screwed up and how to fix it?

The TNC-Pi9k6 is a KISS packet TNC, not a sound card. It will register with Linux as a USB serial device (likely ttyUSB0 or ttyACM00). It won't work with programs that need a sound card.

There is software available for the Teensy processor on the TNC that will make it look like a sound card, but that is a feature of the Pi96K software.

Hi,

That's because the TNC-Pi9k6 is not a soundcard, but a KISS TNC.? It is accessed through the serial port /dev/serial0.? You won't be able to use it with JS8Call or similar apps, but you can use it with the PiGate email software or similar apps that need to connect to a KISS modem to send PACKET data.

A program like Direwolf can take the place of the TNC as a virtual KISS TNC.

If you need more help with this, please let me know as I am very familiar with the TNC-Pi9k6.

Sorry, this should say "but that is NOT a feature of the Pi96K software"

ps

The sound card emulator code for the TNC-Pi9k6 board can be downloaded from:

?? (Teensy 3.1/3.2 processor)
?? (Teensy 3.6 processor)
