Kenwood VM-71A/K Crossband Question

开云体育

I have question for you. If you are "I'm setting it to simplex UHF w/CTCSS on one channel and UHF simplex w/o CTCSS on the other." how is that "cross-band" when they are the same band?

Otherwise, look at the rules and you will find that cross-banding doesn't fit very well.

Also not sure what this has to do with Raspberry Pi-4.

When I attempt to enter Crossband, the PTT doesn't flash and the key does not appear and the unit stays in normal operation. I've tried various things like switching the CTRL channel, changing freq, removing CTCSS, standing on one leg, etc but no joy. I think I am following the procedure properly by Powering OFF, Holding the TONE button, and powering ON. Any suggestions? Thanks.

My apologies. I posted this to the wrong group. I thought I deleted it in time.

To answer your first question - it may not be the right mode, but I can't get the radio to enter crossband. As to your 2nd question - nothing.

73 - Scott

Not sure what you mean "As to your 2nd question - nothing."?

Crossband means VHF on one side and UHF on the other. You can not
transmit on the same band that you are listening to, which would
cause your crossband receiver to totally desense.

I can't put my V71A/K into crossband mode. I'm setting it to simplex UHF w/CTCSS on one channel and UHF simplex w/o CTCSS on the other. I meant it has nothing to do with a RPi4. Scott

Makes sense. I guess I wasn't thinking too hard about it! Thanks - Scott

It would really help if you would quote the message you are replying to. Something like this going out to a large group probably doesn't tell most people anything.
