Hi John and Nigel
I this is about what I saw to replace just an 8GB pi but not available yet. I somehow, HA, I know
how applied 12V to my somewhat new one. Failed to double check that in fact the buck converter
was in fact putting out 5 volts.
So another one waiting for supplies to replenish.

Vince, how is selling it on eBay a bad idea because of "too many parts scalping"?
If you set a price and put it up as a buy it now, it sells for the price you list it at.? If everyone else is scalping them at 3-4x retail, that doesn'tatter because yours sells for your set price, and probably a heck of a lot faster than the others on eBay

Vince. You unpackaged it and used it. Even if for 5 minutes.? It is "nearly new" or "like new" but it is no longer new.
If someone buys a slice of pizza, opens the box and decides they don't like the taste is that still new?

And how is this used? What defines used? It was new and still is new. How does a Rasp pi 4 get "USED like a slice of bread"? (scratches head)? You don't tell your friend "Oh that's my used Pi over there. Or I bought a NEW car when in fact it's REALLY used. It's NEW to me and will stay that way...

Apparently he bought it and is disappointed - is trying to recover what he paid for it. A reasonable thing to do. I am not disappointed with mine and offered him a little less than he is hoping for (but not much) - close to what I originally paid for mine. I have withdrawn now but I still hope he can get his money back.

Does anybody have an idea of when the availability of the 8GB Raspberry PIs will improve, or what is blocking the availability?

Last month the pi foundation raised their prices by $10 due to the manpower shortages and the price of what semiconductors they could get their hands on. Foundries raised the cost on chips

Hi Vince,
There isn't a Kelly Blue Book for most things on the market. Even the KBB is "guide", a suggestion. So your true, straight answer is the price that seller and buyer are both happy with. As we see, you did sell it, presumably for your asking price. Many others walked away, some of them grumbling. So the the day you sold it both you and the buyer were happy with the price. Notice - that was not the first day you offered it.
Your question about new/used - If you bought it in an unopened package from the manufacturer or retailer it was new. As soon as you took possession it became 'used'. Almost new is a point for consideration by buyers. I considered that after you told me about that and your expected price. I decided for a few more dollars I would just buy a refurbed x86 PC.
Glad you found a buyer.
73,
Bill KU8H
