Event #10 - Tue March 12th
#event_notice
Welcome to RandomGram Event Nr. 10
Date/Time: Mar 12th @ 15:00 - 17:00 UTC. That is Tuesday morning/afternoon for most. New TX Lists (code groups) are available now for this event. Code groups from previous events are not valid and will not score. Obtain a registered TX List by emailing your call sign to the Group Owner email address at: [email protected] Objective: This is an "unlimited" event. Transmit as many different code groups as possible (one per QSO). Log as many as possible from other operators during QSOs and by SWL intercept. Additional Tx Lists of 25, 50, 75, etc code groups are available on request. For Rules & FAQ see HERE. Teams: Teams are listed in the Roster & Results message post for this event here. Additional teams are available by request. Team membership is open to all and is completely optional. Operating on a team is no different than otherwise. Team scores are the sum of individual members' scores. If you're interested in joining a team for this event just email your call sign and team preference to [email protected] Suggested Frequencies: 50-60 kHz above the bottom of non-WARC HF bands, conditions permitting. Elsewhere in the band may prove better depending on your region or QRM from other ongoing events. 7028 kHz is used in some regions. Suggested Spotting Page: RG participants are invited to use the SKCC SkedPage at (SKCC Members who post or self-spot on the SkedPage-- please be prepared to provide an SKCC style exchange for callers who request it.) Operating Tips: - A transmitted group earns 2-points; a received group is 1-point (if accurately transmitted, copied and submitted); - Work the same stations on the same band multiple times and exchange additional code groups; - Transmit a new code group with every contact; - For additional points monitor other stations: log and submit code groups they exchange (SWL/intercept); - Submit your updated log or list of received code groups to obtain your current score. For additional operating info see the RandomGram FAQ? HERE. SWL Entries: Even if you don't transmit any code groups you can still earn Rx points by submitting groups you have logged while monitoring other stations. Your confirmation of other stations' transmitted groups will help them to earn Tx points. Deadline for submitting your copied groups: the sooner, the better. Other operators' TX points depend on your confirmation of their transmitted groups. Roster & Results: for this event are posted HERE. Have fun! 73, Drew - AF2Z RandomGram Mgr |

Yes, that is correct: in this "unlimited" event you will always want to transmit a different code group with every contact you make. You can email a request for additional Tx Lists (25, 50, 75, etc code groups) prior to the event or during the event. However, requests for groups during the event may not be provided in time, so it is better to plan ahead. 73, Drew/AF2Z On Mon, Feb 26, 2024 at 09:37 PM, HIRO, JJ1FXF wrote:

SWLers don't need to request a Tx List. Just email a log or list of their copied groups to me or to the [email protected] address. They should include their call sign if they have one. If they don't have a call sign I can use their initials or name or SWL ID, etc. 73, Drew/AF2Z On Mon, Feb 26, 2024 at 10:59 PM, HIRO, JJ1FXF wrote:

I made a somewhat last-minute decision to go portable for this one, to test out a new truck-bed-mounted EFHW vertical for 20m I've been working on.? Ran my KX2 at 10W from the cab of my truck.
Helped a club member (who's getting his feet wet with POTA) get his station set up and running, which cut into my op time.? That's ok though -- he was having a blast running stations for his activation. I called CQ for awhile on 10m hoping to snag some EU ops, but no takers.? Did work a few SOTA folks, though. 73, Jim KK0U |

I received the following from someone operating portable SWL: Quote- As much as I looked forward to this Random Gram event, I couldn¡¯t be at my radio yesterday.? There were two back-to-back appointments at the RG time. However, I was able to get the N. GA webSDR on my phone.? After considerable tinkering and parking next to a store with strong WiFi, I dialed in two strong CW stations sending CQ RG¡ªK0RO and N0HOV. I was able to copy the RGs below but couldn¡¯t transmit any of mine. Thanks for making the RandomGram events possible. I¡¯m already looking forward to the next one. -unquote. 73, Drew/AF2Z On Wed, Mar 13, 2024 at 08:50 AM, Jim KK0U wrote: I made a somewhat last-minute decision to go portable for this one, to test out a new truck-bed-mounted EFHW vertical for 20m I've been working on.?
