New Member says Hello
John R Gibson
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýOK, men since most of the members are introducing themselves I guess I had
better do the same so you'll know a little more about me if and when I e-mail
the group OK.
?
My full name is John R.Gibson but all my friends and my radio handle is
"Hoot" or Hoot Gibson so any of you that are young enough will put the
connection of "Hoot" with Gibson and know that you would to be at least 60 years
old or older to get the connection or unless you are a Western Country
fan.? I was born and raised in Lamanda Park (East Pasadena) California.
starting in 1932 so you can read that I'm 36X2 years young.
?
I model the 2nd District of the Los Angeles Division or the area from San
Bernardino to Los Angels in HO scale here in our two car garage which will never
see the likes of a car so the garage is all mine.
?
I will be in the background reading and gathering information and from time
to time I will be sending e-mail's but for now I will stay quite OK.?
?
I do want to say thank you Bob for starting this group which is long
overdue but I have always been surprised that Jim Lancaster did not start such a
group long ago but it would seem the you are the chosen person so thank you
again for your interest in the Citrus Industries and the railroads that served
these industries.

Hoot, I've got more than I can handle with a big backlog of material for the packing house web site - a lot of it color photos from Bob Chaparro. Besides, Bob's retired and has lot's of time to spend on the internet so makes a perfect list owner :) I did update the site recently with a lot of Central California packing house photos - again a lot of them were Bob's photos. And I've got more Central California stuff to add from other contributors. Plus more Southern California cities from Bill Messecar. On Sunday March 6, Sunshine Models is sponsoring their annual Prototype Modelers Meeting in Buena Park at the Holiday Inn on Beach Blvd. Registration starts at 9 AM with the first presentation - Southern California Citrus Packing Houses by yours truly - at 10 AM. Some of the material is from the web site but I'm also using a lot of new material. It will cover primarily Orange County plus Corona and maybe Riverside. Hope some of you will be there.
