Sespe was a small community in Ventura County near the Santa Clara River. By the 1890s, it had a post office, school and railroad station. Local backers hoped it would become the area's primary town. This didn't happen. The nearby city of Fillmore grew and eventually overshadowed little Sespe and the town declined. Little of the town of Sespe remains.
