K-factor: what is standard used an could it be changed?
Hi all, What I did not find is a place to key in the k-factor. The generated information is very useful but in case of propagation it could make contacts happen that are not possible under normal conditions. Therefore I would like to change the k-factor sometimes. If it is not possible to key in the k-factor, is known with what k-factor Radio-Mobile-Deluxe calculates? (Most of the time in real world k=1.33). Thanks in advance, Chris

Geodata Site Hosting Offer
4
Hello! I've used RadioMobile on and off since I got my license way back, and recently noticed that one of the geodata sites is dead. I'd be happy to host one in perpetuity (or at least as long as I'm around, and I'm in my early 20s now) if that would be helpful. I've been hosting my own website(s) for 7+ years now, and have pretty solid uptime. Looking forward to hearing back, Joshua, KI7NOX

Electric field level
Greetings, I am working on a project and they are asking me the following: "The data on the electric field level [dB(uV/m)] must be entered in the corresponding table, for the points corresponding to distances every 5 kilometers (modifiable) and for radials every 30°, the geographic north must be taken as a reference and the movement clockwise; the distance scale can be modified according to the estimated coverage area. The coverage area graph must be included in a copy of a cartographic map of appropriate scale. "The radials must be drawn every 30° in the diagram." Now in the radio link window the label electric field appears, which is the level to be able to fill out the table they are asking me for. Then they ask me to graph the electric field on a map. Is it possible to graph the electric field? I have been researching a little about the polar radio coverage tool. From what I understood is that I graph the reception level, this means that it is a label RX level [dbm] displayed in the radio link window, not the electric field. Is this true or am I wrong? Please help.

Combined Coverage Issue
3
I think that Combined Cartesian Coverage is behaving differently than I am used to. I have a project with multiple fixed units and the combined coverage plot is showing lower levels in certain locations compared with the plot for a single unit. Previously, I believed that combined coverage would present the best signal level from all fixed points. I am using the same parameters and map properties in both cases. Has something changed in the latest version (11.6.8), is there a configuration parameter I now need to set, or am I just mis-remembering? Thanks in advance, Guy

Help Files
6
Don't see them in the download. Did I miss them? I have installed the PC version of Radio_Mobile. When I hit the Help tab/Search or Content, it goes to support for Microsoft.com. Should there be a file link set somewhere that looks for help files for radio mobile. I don't see such a help file in the downloaded files? Thanks Tom

1 meter DEM
4
Today I discovered that 1M DEM data exists for the US and oceanic areas of Region 2 surrounding the US. Can RM use this 1M data? Data of this quality should easily show urban clutter vs streets, which would provide a new level of propagation analysis. https://data.usgs.gov/datacatalog/data/USGS:77ae0551-c61e-4979-aedd-d797abdcde0e Ron KA3JIJ

Map size changes coverage
5
Hi all. Have been using radio mobile for many years. Today did a plot with a map size of 200km. Changed the map size to 50km and re-did the plot. The coverage was different. Could anyone shed some light on this? Thanks. David

Single Polar Coverage Problem
8
Good Morning. My name is Matt Jeckell. I am with CIMT Team 11, a Federal Incident Fire Management Team as the Communications Technician. I have been using Radio Mobile for several years with great success propagating for repeater sites for large wildland fires. However I have noticed while using the single polar coverage that it consistently cuts out a portion around the 7 o'clock position and 10-11 o'clock position. See pics below. Has anyone ran into this problem and was able to fix? I export the KML to Google Earth and I should clearly be getting coverage when I look at it from 3D views. Its almost like its processing the data to quickly as it goes in a circle? Any help would be much appreciated. Matt

Questions about VISTA versus WIN 7 and Radio Mobile Version 11.6.6
2
Greetings! This message is a request for assistance from those who are experienced and actually know their way around Radio Mobile. I recently installed RM Ver. 11.6.6 in a WIN 7 laptop. Prior to that, I had been using the same version in a Windows VISTA laptop for many years with no problems. I also copied all individual prior projection files (.bmp, .bat, .geo, .inf, .kml, .map, and .net files) from the VISTA computer to the Win 7 computer via USB thumb drive. Since doing the transfer, I now see some significant differences in the increased amount of landcover shown in the predicted link profile, questionable differences in fresnel zones and, in the increased number of unusable path predictions made by the WIN 7 compared to the same usable predictions made by the VISTA computer. I also now see more Warning 3 notices in the predicted link details summary using WIN 7. Is there something about using WIN 7 with RM that I apparently am unaware of? If someone knowledgeable could help and/or needs more information, please feel free to call me at 360 606 2298 between 8am-4pm U.S. Pacific Time. Thanks very much in advance! Nick Ruark

ADDITIONAL CABLE LOSS
5
Hi! How or when to use additional cable loss in system configuración? What is the difference between line loss and additional cable loss? I know when it's used, when the height of the antenna differs. In a blog that talks about that of radio mobile, it says that it is the height from the base of the tower or antenna mast to its connectors. I can't understand that, it would be the same loss of the coaxial cable that is added to the line loss or not? Help me. Please. Att. Eduardo

Having problems with blank elevation map.
2
Hello. I was following the tutorial from the Radio Mobile handbook, and used the installer that comes with it. I got it until chapter 3, page 37. I can?t generate maps of locations other than regions that are close to the example map in England. For example, when I click map properties, select the city of Rio de Janeiro and extract it, the resulting map is a gray/blank one, and I can?t seem to figure out what I am doing wrong. The program seems to be downloading SRTM data from the web, and I can find it on the proper SRTM3 folder. I thank everyone who tries to help me in advance.

Radio Mobile cant connect to the internet
10
I have installed the latest version of radio mobile 11.6.8 But everything fails when grabbing stuff from internet, from getting SMRT data, merging file from google map/open map, even the self update wont work. At first I think my PC is just not working properly. Tried a different laptop, still the same issue. My buddy got everything working fine over his laptop., so I manually copied his file and all setting over. still doesn't not work. I did a side by side comparison, and cant figure out why. Everything it search for SRTM data, it seems to grabbing the corresponding file, , but always pops up with warning "file not found" and I cant find anything in the folder I specified. Right now I am doing everything manual -i.e. download all the SRTM data, land cover data. and manually put it into the corresponding folder..seems working, just painful. Not sure if anyone have similar issues, or there is something I missed from the installation steps. or it might be a firewall setting I need to bypass. Please help and thank you in advance! Yusen

Building obstructions to signal propagation
7
Hi everyone! Does any one tried to insert a building or some kind of obstacle to propagation nearby an antenna location ? That would be very usefull to simulate the restrictions to propagation, for example, to an Air Traffic Controller Radar Station (or VHF analog voice communication), due to a new building nearby. I couldn?t find such resource in Radio Mobile. That would need some kind of CAD capability to build the solid representing the obstacle, and also the algorithm shoud have the abillity to add its alture to, for example, SRTM elevation model (HGT file). Could anyone help me please ? Thanks a lot to Roger for this very usefull software. I love it! Regards, Narci (Air Traffic Control Electrical Enginner)

Adding building height to SRTM elevation data to assess its obstrution to propagation of RF or visibility

My name is Narci and and I have employed your Radio Mobile the last ten years to help me with VHF analog voice communication and Radar range to ATC. Do you have tryed to insert a building or some kind of obstacle to propagation nearby an antenna location ? That would be very usefull to simulate the restrictions to propagation, for example, to an Air Traffic Controller Radar Station (or VHF analog voice communication), due to a new building nearby. I couldn?t find such resource in Radio Mobile. That would need some kind of CAD capability to build the solid representing the obstacle, and also the algorithm shoud have the abillity to add its alture to, for example, SRTM elevation model (HGT file). Do you have a way to perform this task or could plan for your next release ? Thanks a lot for this very usefull software and very thankfull for your dedication to it. Allow additional frequency range outside of amateur
3
I'm creating some coverage maps for my local search and rescue team. We operate in the 150-168 MHz range. Is there anyway to allow that range for me to create the maps. Right now I'm using 148 MHz which is closest I can input. Thanks,

Interactive Maps
2
I love the way Radio Mobile online provides the interactive Open Street View Map HTML file outputs. This is very useful way to embed coverage maps on websites, and Is there any way to do this with the offline radio mobile software? Or at least is there a way to provide a transparent PNG output of the coverage overlay that can be added to an open street map type interface? I used the radio mobile online software to make this map, but I would like to customize it some more and be able to use the offline software to produce such a map ready to be embedded. https://skyhublink.com/files/skyhub_coverageA/index.html Thanks Skyler W0SKY
