As he was a poet, he would attend poetry symposiums and I would accompany him. When he wrote poetry, he would recite it to me. He would ask me to listen and tell him what type of couplet he had written. If I just automatically said, 'Wa, wa,' or 'Very nice,' on a couplet, he would say, 'Listen. Listen properly, decide for yourself, and then say, "wa, wa," (which means excellent on a correct point). Weigh in your mind what you say.' So we discussed things and utilized our spare time in hobbies of art—poetry and singing—never in gossip or hearsay. That is something I learned from childhood. So I was always engaged in some activity to expand my knowledge." "All our life he kept me as a companion. He made me understand that he always needed my love and companionship, and he got it. He would say that because of my help he could do God’s work. If anything made me feel a little concerned or I began to fret, he would tell me, 'I am going to sit by your side and I am not going to get up from your side until you feel satisfied.'" "People would ask, 'Why don’t you go out?' I would tell them, 'I am happy being with my husband. I love him so much.' I would tell him, 'You do not know how much I love you.' So, I was singing his verses to him. In the past several years, I would sing them in different languages as well." "When Master Darshan would eat, he wanted everyone else to have the same type of crockery and the same type of food as he did." "He wanted to have people around him. He wanted people to have tea with him. He wanted people to have lunches and dinners with him, so he could save time and talk to many people and satisfy them." "One group came from France and did not know English. Sant Darshan Singh asked me to welcome them. I spoke to them in English and they all nodded their heads. We knew they could not understand what I was saying. So Master Darshan asked me, 'Why don't you learn how to greet them in their language so they feel welcome?' So that gave me the impetus to learn. When people from Germany, France or Montreal, or Spanish-speaking countries came, I started learning their languages so I could pick up some words to say to them when they arrived. Later, I learned a little Italian and Greek. The main thing was to welcome them in their language and help them with their accommodation arrangements to make them comfortable.
