It's important to know what Gnosticism IS as well as what it IS NOT. On the web is much, what I call, 'gnostic nonsense' (gnonsense). People call all sorts of subjects "gnostic". Apparently everything's gnostic except actual Gnosticism. THAT, most don't have time for. THAT, remains the forbidden topic, the mystery always concealed as souls prefer the shiny things of distraction. Time to rebel against the archon occupation! In this online world of clickbait sensationalism and exploitation can the teachings of gnostic spirituality along with their ancient texts be appreciated instead of distorted by influencers? My take is simply to let the gnostics be gnostic, treating them equally like any other world religion and understand just what exactly the original spiritual movements labeled "gnostic" actually taught based on what they themselves have to say about that, and not what other esoteric groups coming into being many centuries or millennia later assume they taught cooking in their own particular theological and cultic cultural cauldron of biases in Europe or the US. As I view the saga of the gnostics -- the treatment of the true classic Nag Hammadi gnostics of antiquity -- the only solution is to let the gnostics be gnostic, truly hear their voices embedded in the surviving texts that come directly from them, and allow them to speak for themselves, define their own beliefs, diet, and spiritual practices. Then others may truly benefit from their wisdom, and in that sense Gnosticism as a spiritual path can potentially reincarnate into the world again, or far more likely and best of all, help spiritual seekers of authenticity recognize those who already may be following a Living Gnosis Now in the modern age. Thoughts Become Things -- The Power of Thought The following story is found in the Sawan Singh book, Tales of the Mystic East. Love Begets Love When Akbar was once taking a walk, accompanied by Birbal, one of his ministers, they saw a peasant coming from a distance. King Akbar told Birbal that he would like to shoot this man and asked Birbal: "When we meet the peasant, please find out what is passing through his mind." When the peasant came near, Birbal, pointing to King Akbar, asked the peasant what he thought about him, saying: "Please do not hesitate nor cheat, but speak out your mind truthfully." "I would like to pull out every single hair in his beard," the peasant told him, with some venom. When Birbal repeated this to the King, he sighed, and said: "Ah, Birbal, it is as the holy men who visit my court have so often told us. It is love alone that leads us to find a Saint and by him be taken to the mansion of the Lord. Hatred brings only hatred in return, and binds us still tighter to this world." (Tales of the Mystic East) "Love is the key to the secrets of God." (Rumi) "This is my commandment, that you love one another." (Christ) "The Truth do I utter, let all hear: Who loveth, he alone findeth the Lord." (Guru Gobind Singh) Thought Elevation -- Focusing Upon Spiritual Things "Your worst enemy cannot harm you as much as your own unguarded thoughts." (Buddha) "With our thoughts we make the world." (Buddha) "Whatever man thinketh, that he obtaineth. If he were to dwell on the Absolute, he would become immortal." (Sant Namdev quoted in the Adi Granth, Sikh Scriptures) "Wherever one's thought dwells, there will that person rest. At his pleasure, he may go to the delusion of unreality or he may merge into the Lord of the self. Where thou keepest thy mind while living, to that abode shalt thou go after death. The soul finds lodging in a place wherein it has hitherto been immersed." (Dadu Dayal) Accumulated thoughts of living beings cause births and deaths for them again and again "The thoughts are of various types and each thought has its hidden import. The thoughts which are soaked in attachment and illusion, form the basis of transmigration. But the thoughts which are immersed in selfless service (seva), lead one to salvation. The flow of thoughts in the mind knows no end. Not a single moment passes without those, so much so, that during sleep even, they occur in the form of dreams. What are those thoughts? Desire for anything assumes the form of a thought. The moment a desire to attain something or the other, arises in the mind, that very moment, man is thrown into an ocean of thoughts. These very thoughts become the basis of resolutions and options which cause one to enter into different forms after death. Whatever the nature of thought at the time of death determines the next form or birth for that soul. "All the doubts and desires should be made to merge with the Shabd or Word [the Divine Current of Light and Sound], to get rid of horrible consequences of innumerable births and transmigration. Except for the desire to recite Naam, no other desire should take hold of the mind... By remembering the Lord, one attains God-realization and when this stage is reached, then there is no need to resort to any other means of attain salvation [moksha]." Long ago, Giordano Bruno wrote of an infinity of worlds and life in the cosmos: "He is glorified not in one, but in countless suns; not in a single earth, a single world, but in a thousand thousand, I say in an infinity of worlds." As was often the case with the western mystics, he was burned at the stake for sharing his revelations, his "heresy". Such has been the fate of numerous gnostic souls and other mystics. Around that very same time but further to the East in India, Guru Nanak also sang that there are countless earths, spheres, moons, suns oceans, living creatures and beings, millions of skies above skies: "Many millions are the skies and solar systems. Many millions are the moons, the suns and stars. Many millions are the sources of creation and continents. Many millions are the jewel containing oceans. Many times has the universal expanse occurred." And rather than being condemned for his intuitive insights, Guru Nanak is considered to be one of India's greatest spiritual masters and saints. His Morning Prayer (Jap Ji) is sung and recited as sacred scripture by millions. Today on this Spiritual Awakening Radio Podcast we explore the similarities between the empirical, scientific path of astronomy and the intuitive way of the mystics, how both explore space, inner and outer, during the dark hours before the dawn, how both have a lens they use to focus with in order to gaze into realms of subtle light from beyond what is normally perceived, and tune the cosmic radio dial listening for faint signals or sounds coming from beyond the cosmic static. The bigness of the "known" cosmos keeps on getting bigger! Actually, it is our awareness that's growing, seeing more and more of That Which Is. I find astronomy and mysticism have much in common. Like Galileo discovering new worlds through the lens of his telescope, mystics have been trying to tell humanity for eons of something quite similar. The reason why the contemplative state of being is still hidden from most of us is that, unlike Galileo’s telescope, in order to look through this particular lens, the third eye or inner vision, we mustn't be stuck always focusing on the outward sensory impressions, but go in the opposite direction: into Inner Space during contemplative meditation. Look through the lens of the third eye to access the world of within. Tune the inner radio dial, listening for the subtle inner sounds coming from beyond the silence. Stages of Sant Mat, by Baba Ram Singh In Sant Mat, the first stage is that of Gurubhakti. Swami Ji Maharaj has said, “The first life is that of Gurubhakti. The second is of Naam. And the third is of salvation, Mukti Pad. And the fourth is Nij Dham, or our True Home." So, first stage is that of Gurubhakti. And even if it takes us a full lifetime to do the Gurubhakti — that is, to manifest the Radiant Form of the Master within — then it is nothing. Because the Master-Guru, is connected inside with God Almighty. God Almighty is Someone Whom we cannot fathom, Whom we cannot hear, or Whom we cannot see. And He is beyond description. So, Guru is the One Who is connected to that God Almighty. Because the Guru knows this world, He knows what is happening here, and He is also connected to God Almighty. So, He is aware of everything. And therefore, it is very important for us to take His help. So, what then is Gurubhakti? Gurubhakti — the Masters say we should do three things. And the first is Satsang. That is, listen to the Master, listen to what He has to say, and He says that to awaken us. Second is to do the Bhajan Simran. And third, if we get the opportunity, then we should do seva. So, the Masters have told us to do these three things in the Kali Yuga. By doing these three things, we get the pleasure of the Master. We are able to please the Master. And when we are able to please the Master and get His Grace, then we are able to manifest the Radiant Form of the Master within. So, once we have manifested the Master, then the steamer — the steamship on which we have to go back to God Almighty – that starts. Today also, we have the ship — which is the Naam — which is the Holy Sound Current and the Light. So, that ship is ready even today. But we have not manifested the captain of that ship. And once we do that, once we manifest the Radiant Form of the Master, then we will be able to board on that ship and go back to God Almighty. So, He is aware of all of the planes within and He is aware of the Lords of all of these planes. So, when He takes us within, He gets us to meet the Lords of all of the planes, and He gradually takes the soul back to God Almighty, traveling through all the planes. So, to please the Master, we have to listen to Satsang every day. We have to do our Bhajan Simran. And if possible, we have to do seva. By doing these things, we are able to get the pleasure of the Master and His Grace is upon us. Masters also say, “If you are not able to do any other seva, you should do your Bhajan Simran.” And by doing this, we get the pleasure of the Master and His Grace. So, when we do our Bhajan Simran, that is like doing seva of the Master. So, the Master considers that as a seva that you are doing for Him – though, in reality, that Bhajan Simran, we are doing for our own benefit. But the Master is so graceful that He considers that as a seva done to Him. And then, when we do this regularly, He also extends His Grace upon us. 'So, when we do our Bhajan Simran — we do more and more of the Bhajan Simran every day — then we will definitely get successful on this Path. And, one day, we will all get the Grace of the Master, and we will be able to get inwardly focused. * * * The time is good and we should make the most of it. The Unpublished Letters of Kirpal Singh on Meditation Practice Today I begin with a reading from the mystic verses of Sat Saheb, the initiating spiritual master of Sant Dariya Sahib. Sat Saheb was one of the earlier Sant Satgurus of the Sant Mat guru lineage living a couple of generations prior to the time of Sant Tulsi Sahib of Hathras. His mystic poetry is quite beautiful and composed in the style of the Anurag Sagar and other scriptures of the earlier Kabir-Sant Dharam Das line of masters. Then I share some letters from Sant Kirpal Singh on meditation practice. Those are quite wonderful, and helpful for the satsangi seeking to improve the quality of their meditation experience. Then there's a short discourse from Baba Somanath about becoming the "form of Truth" by focusing upon the teachings of the masters. In conclusion, two satsang discourses by Sant Ram Singh: having focused attention during simran practice that purifies the mind, and, about becoming a gurumukh following the instructions and guidance of the masters instead of being held captive by the limited thoughts of the mind, thus remaining a disciple controlled by the dictates of the mind, a manmukh. Concentration of Mind and Spirit -- Attention -- Quality of Focus During Spiritual Practice, by Hazur Maharaj Rai Saligram "How can, then, the spiritual practices, prescribed by Sants, which are extremely delicate and subtle, be felt enjoyable without the concentration of mind and spirit? Just as the food comes in contact with the tongue at the time of eating, yet its taste cannot be enjoyed if the attention is elsewhere, so if the mind and spirit of the practitioner did reach up to the Form or partially come in contact with the current of Shabd, no joy and bliss can be experienced in Dhyan and Bhajan, if the attention is directed elsewhere, i. e., engaged in worldly thoughts. It is, therefore, very important that the attention is kept under control at the time of devotional practices. In other words, joy would be experienced only, if the attention is focused on Form and Shabd, otherwise one would achieve nothing at the end of his devotional practice and would feel unhappy." "If, at the time of Abhyas [meditation practice], a Parmarthi [spiritual devotee] turns his attention upwards internally and tries to fix it on the Form or Shabd or any particular region, as prescribed by Sants, the currents of mind, spirit and sight would, unfailingly, flow upwards and as long as no other thought causes a disturbance, i.e., no contrary current is set in motion, the direction of that current would remain upwards and some joy and bliss would surely be experienced, in consequence of this abstraction and withdrawal of the spirit current, because the higher region is one of greater joy and bliss, than the plane on which the Spirit is normally located in the wakeful condition." Sant Tulsi Sahib’s Spiritual Master Was Sant Dariya Sahib of Bihar, by James Bean As has been mentioned by scholars contributing to that great book, The Sants, Studies in a Devotional Tradition of India, published in 1987 by Motilal Banarsidass, Radhasoami Reality by Mark Juergensmeyer, and, Tulsi Sahib - Saint of Hathras, Tulsi Sahib's teachings and those of Radhasoami are most compatible with the earlier Dharamdasis (the Sant Dharam Das line of Satgurus), a branch of the Kabir Panth, a guru lineage that also used the Five Names and held the Anurag Sagar to be a central sacred text. Both Dariya Sahib and Tulsi Sahib had a beef with the Dharamdasis over spiritual practice, believing that they and the other earlier Sant Panths and Sikhs had gone off course no longer fully imparting the complete teachings of Kabir, Dharam Das and the other Sants. With the old format initiation was divided into two initiations: the first into the names, contemplation upon the form of the satguru, and inner Light. After satsangis reported being established in the Light, they then could move on to the second initiation into the Sound Current. I've confirmed this myself from my discussions with people in the Dharam Das Kabir group and other Panthis. Most people in those Panths never get to the second initiation into Surat Shabd Yoga. This was crossing a red line for Dariya Sahib's guru, Darya, and Tulsi Sahib. Too many chauka (chowka) coconut rituals, not enough Shabd Yoga. See page 85 of the book, Param Sant Tulsi Sahib, the chapter titled, Sant Mat and its Secrets, Dialogue Between Tulsi Sahib and Phool Das of the Kabir Sect. The Dariya Sahib sangat was a schism branching off of the Dharamdais. Dariya Sahib is even portrayed by his followers as another reincarnation of Kabir come to reboot Sant Mat during this part of Kali Yuga. This rift with the Dharamdasis shouldn't be overlooked, as it's an important part of the history just prior to the time of Tulsi Sahib. “How long will this line of succession continue? Kindly relate it to us in your own words, asks Fakkar Das. ‘Listen mindfully, 0 Fakkar Das, I explain this to you, says Dariya: "As long as the discipline of the Sound Current is preserved unadulterated, The line of succession will truly continue. But when it is mixed with outer rituals and display of external garbs, My Sound Current will part company. My Divine essence will depart, And the souls will go into the mouth of Kal. I shall then come to this world, And shall proclaim the teaching of the Sound Current again. Proclaiming the teaching, I shall found the line of succession [again]. And emancipating the souls, I shall take them to my Abode…. For aeons I have been coming, And imparting the teaching of the true Sound Current." And: "That ladder is continued through me, says Dariya. Fakkar Das, Basti Das, and Guna Das are the ladders proceeding from me. Whomsoever they appoint as their successors would also be known as ladders. Thus will my line of succession continue." (Dariya Sahib - Saint of Bihar, by Dr. Kashi Nath Upadhyaya) The True Identity of Sant Tulsi Sahib's Guru, The Real Ratnagar Rao If in the 1930's someone saying that Sant Mat was their spiritual path wrote that Hazur Baba Sawan Singh was one of the greatest masters of all time, on the same level as Kabir, Nanak, Dadu Dayal, Ravidas, Surdas, etc... you just know that person was extremely likely to have been a Radhasoami! Given that Dariya Sahib and Tulsi Sahib were contemporaries, the same observation can be made, the same logic can be applied to Tulsi Sahib's intriguing references to Dariya Sahib of Bihar, mentioning him in his various writings and incorporating some of the bhajans of Dariya Sahib into his writings. It's very plausible, very likely even that Tulsi Sahib was initiated by Dariya Sahib at a younger age, or that Tulsi Sahib was initiated later in life by one of the above-mentioned spiritual successors of Sant Dariya Sahib. No Cirque du Soleil mental gymnastics attempt at massaging the history or tea leaf reading is required. It's a rather straightforward

Let us join the caravan of mystics, learn from them the ways of ahimsa: nonviolence in thought, word, and deed, and aspire to connect with the heavenly realms of God. If only the soul and it's heavenly abode can come to the forefront of our attention, we will soon discover that, "It is in Him that we live and move and have our being." With old writings of saints, mystics and scriptures, as wonderful as they might be, the danger and likelihood is we remain stuck, trapped in our cultural bias, blind spots and filters never seeing beyond the horizons of our limited understanding tethered to past learning only. If we have contact with a living teacher (a Living One) and spiritual community, we can have our beliefs challenged, our horizons expanded, spiritual breakthroughs, find out the vitally important things we've been missing out on as we interface with an ancient wisdom tradition communicating to us an Initiation into the Mysteries of the Kingdom of the Heavens, introducing to us the complete methods of spiritual practice we need to travel upon this Path of the Masters. We can experience for ourselves our own Living Gnosis Now, a 21st century version of the spiritual path described in the Gospel of Thomas, Nag Hammadi Library, Adi Granth and countless other sacred texts of the ages. "Masters come here to give Their Satsang and awaken the soul and then They initiate the soul and help the soul go back to God Almighty. So, that is how They work towards the salvation of the soul. Below is excerpted from a satsang discourse of Baba Ram Singh commenting on verses of the Sar Bachan Radhasoami Poetry of Soami Ji Maharaj, which he often does in satsang. "Swami Ji Maharaj also is addressing our soul as a hansa, or as a swan, because swans are pure birds and the soul is also pure. He is addressing the soul and He is telling the soul, 'You leave the outward things and leave the water outside and you come within. God Almighty has kept a lot of treasures within. He has kept an ocean of Nectar within. You come and take that.' "'Saagar ksheer bharaa ghat beethar, Peevo surat thaani. Jag ko jaar dhaso nab andhar, Mandar parakh nishaani.' "He tells us to come within, but what stops us from going within is our attachment outside to this world. And till we overcome those attachments and entanglements outside, the soul will never be able to withdraw and go inside. "The Masters give us Simran because that is a means to cut out our entanglements and enable the soul to leave the nine doors and come to the Tenth Door. "By doing Simran and Dhyan, we will be able to mold our mind and get the gunas, or get the attributes, that are necessary for us to go within. All the Saints Who have gone within in the past, They have all made that effort of doing Their Bhajan Simran, and then They have been able to go within. And all in the future also, will be able to go within only when they make that effort of doing their Bhajan Simran. "So, that possibility of going within is for everyone who does Bhajan and Simran. And we often delude ourselves, thinking that it is only Mahatmas have done the Bhajan Simran because They were Ready-Made Souls and They could go inside, but we are sinners and we are not able to do this. So, this is the thought of a lazy mind. And if we overcome that and we do our Bhajan Simran, then we will definitely be able to go within. "Every human being, be it a male or a female, has the capability of going within. We should have that enthusiasm and we should have that commitment to do that meditation and we will definitely be able to go within...." "'Guru moorath tu dhaar hiye mein, Man ke sang kyun firat nimaani. Tera kaaz kare guru poore, Sun le anahad baani.' "Swami Ji Maharaj says, 'Your work will be done by a True Master.' And He says, 'Why aren’t you listening to that Anahad Shabd, that Sound Current, which is resonating at the Eye Center?' "That Holy Sound Current has emanated from God Almighty and It has come down through the planes and is resonating at Eye Center. And from there, it is illuminating this body. And it is having the functionality of this body. "So, Swami Ji Maharaj says, 'You manifest that Sound Current.' He says, 'That Satguru Who is going to help you, He is within. You go and manifest that Holy Sound Current, which is His manifestation.
