Syncal 30 battery charger

I have a mint boxed Axtronics charger surplus to requirements. It is a pulsed type charger so is good for rejuvenating bad cells, it's also a negative delta V type and stops charging when the battery voltage starts to downturn and is fully charged. Output is 500mA so it is relatively gentle on your battery, I found that my battery did not feel even slightly warm when fully charged so it is pretty efficient, and safe.

Model number is H02400005-XX-D1. It comes complete with a UK plug and IEC connector. Output via croc clips. AC input is universal and will charge battery packs from 12 to 20 cells, so will also do Clansman 320 battery packs too.

I thought I would offer it here to group members rather than stick it on eBay. Looking for ?20 shipped in the UK. Strikalite sell them for ?34 shipped so grab yourself a bargain!

Thanks

Kevin

Is the battery pack not 24v? ?

The charger is suitable for ( I quote) "this Axtronics battery charger that will charge 2.4volts up to 14.4volts (2-12 cells) worth of Ni-Cad / NiMH batteries so it will do anything from 700mAh up to 5000mAh cells."

Or does the Syncal 30 run off 12v ?? I thought it was 24v

Further to my last message I see they do the 24v charger.

Please disregard my previous message

Hi guys,
The 931 Syncal runs on 24 volts.
I have one here but no batteries for it.
I have all the ancillary stuff and full service manual. Also the little bolt on charger that connects to 12 volts and has some sort of oscillator in it that boosts the voltage high enough to charge the 24 volt battery.
It was issued to me in old Rhodesia and when I was told to "Stand down" I asked "what do I do with the radio " and was told to give it back to Robert M.
I'm in Canada now and that old set has followed me around for years. I prefer to use my ICOM 703.

Duncan,
?
The Syncal battery is nominally 22.8 volts as it has 19 cells in it. Usually you will find it sits at around 26 volts if it has been charged fairly recently.
?
There are a range of Axtronics chargers, the one I was selling was the 768 on the Strikalite site. The one you mention is a different one and would be ok for Jaguar/Panther?batteries etc?but not the Syncal 30.

Thanks Kevin,

I made a mistake and didn't see the 24v charger on Strikalites site until after I posted the question.
