Its probably going to be the public who, for one reason or
another, cannot collect the amount of gear they are interested in.
?
Just because a few of us have the odd bit of kit or three
there are folk out there who would like to see more of this kit.
?
The museum does have quite a bit of British kit, so I guess
just turning up with yet another 19 set might not really help so hopefully folk
like Tony can bring Russian gear, I have a few bits of Japanese gear (WW2
military not modern plastic), others might have American, German etc etc.
?
That way, those poor folk who attend rallies bemoaning the
fact they can't buy a thing due to the trouble and strife can at least get to
see it, hi.
?
Dates I feel would be the tricky bit.
?
cheers, Ben.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýTonyBRILLIANT concept - why didnt Royal Signals think of that before?? (Mind you some of us did try to run something similar a few years ago over the Corps weekend at the end of June each year) One question to ask is who is it aimed at, as I assume, the Museum is running it as an attraction to bring the public in???? If we are the public who are to be attracted, and are already there, what is the benefit, one asks, unless we are expected to pay for entrance and this seems unlikely given what you have said in your first email. Lets give them all the encouragement we can, and support the idea. Can we get the Royal Signals Amateur Radio Societty involved (RSARS) that could provide a major additional attraction, particularly if a typical radio rally was added on here. Dates are going to be the big problem, but encouraging people to come over long distances will also be a major feature, so my suggestion is to see if we cannot combine with something else that will attract radio collectors: Suggestions:? The Corps weekend which is already a major attraction on a Saturday in June ????????????????????????? The Flight Refuelling Rally at Wimborne which is already an attraction on a Sunday in August ????????????????????????? Choose a weekend date that is not already booked by another Radio Rally and have a real open air rally on the Sunday, like Newbury or Dunstable Downs. (thought??? Was the former Rally at Longleat ever? replaced elsewhere?? This could be such a replacement, perhaps?) Run this event over three days (Friday to Sunday) to make it more worthwhile for those taking part who can spend the entra day on site.? This will allow then to visit the museum as well as providing a public display. (Separate I will try and collect together dates from 2010/ or likely ones for 2011) Mike B On 12/10/2010 14:45, Tony wrote: ? |
