BCC-66H
?I have recently obtained a Racal BC-66H Transceiver with it's attached Vehicle Interface unit BC-567HE, I have found the basic manual for this kit but no circuit details giving handset/headset connections etc, I also have the TRA 967 kit which has headsets etc with it, are these headsets useable with the BC-66 ? I would think so as they are for a Racal set, I also have the auto atu and antennae base for the 967, can this be used with the BC-66?.Any advice as to setting this BC-66 up and details of circuits etc would be appreciated. Leighton,

Jaguar V, great radio. I was working in the Racal labs at South Ruislip
when the radio was designed. It uses Clansman 7 pin connectors rather than the
earlier type as used on the Syncal 30 for example.
?
I recall Dave, PMR conversion, has the handbooks for this set,
they include the circuits etc.

Some confusing information appears, I have also A TRA967 with it's amplifier, the set takes a 12v battery yet the manual says the set ( and the amplifier ) can be connected to a vehicle supply ( 24v ) and the same in the manual for the BCC-66H and the VIA, mentions a 12v supply AND being connected to a 24v vehicle supply through the VIA unit, so which supply do I use ?for the basic radio and/or with the accessory units for either radio.

The radios in both cases uses 12v through the audio connectors or on the rear terminals. The battery for the BCC66 is the MA4025 it's also used on the PRM4090,4031,4021,MA4041 and the Cougar SMT unit. So only connect 12v to the bare radio.
The VIU supply is 24v and it converts the 24v from the vehicle to 12v to operate the radios through the audio sockets. In vehicle configuration the BCC66 and BCC567 are termed VRQ316. Regards Dave g1jwg? |
Hi Dave, many thanks the info, that is what I thought but I needed to make sure!, The basic radio is a manpack for 12v battery use and in the vehicle configuration with the added module they run from 24v. VIA the addon module, excellent, I can play now !, Any idea which pin on the VIA for the BCC-66 is the positive, normal Clansman I believe is A - positive yes.

Hello everyone. I am new here and very pleased that I found this group.
I have a VRQ316 (BCC66HE with BCC567HG VIU) and I'm trying to get it working and use it as my HAM radio for 6m band. I have the 'Jaguar Radio BCC 66 Vol. 1H Technical Manula' but would also need those other manuals and workbooks that are mentioned here. I was told by the L.R. Serises support that?cable and connector would fit my VIU. What I cannot figure out is the RF Out connector. It looks?like a BNC but has holes instead of the pins on the outer walls. Anyway, my Amphenol UG-88/U BNC connectors fit in?perfectly they just don't lock in. Photos: |

It looks to me, like some gorillalilla! Ripped the pins off the BNC connector!?! It's a mystery how some miscreant could rip the pins off! Or shear them off with a pipe wrench? Other than replacing the connector, I guess you could build some kind of bracket to hold the connector in place externally. Good luck, looks like a neat radio. --Ira On 4/8/2020 4:38 AM, Srdjan Vucic wrote:
