Bezel [Escutcheon] for Racal RA117 etc.
I am restoring a Racal RA117? that came into my hands having no black Bakerlite bezel. I`m hoping that someone on this group can help me get one to make this older radio complete.? donaldbcollie@... Thankyou...Donald Brett Collie |

Re: Racal BCC 540G AAMTU Question
Hi Richard
?
The momentary break method does not store any data, each time it is initiated it resets the microprocessor and completes an active tune cycle with RF to match the antenna as best it can.
?
When a PWM data word is sent from a suitable radio the BCC540G checks to see if it already has it in memory, if not it it completes an active tune cycle with RF to match the antenna as best it can.
?
If the 8 bit PWM data word is in memory it checks the first bit which will either initiate an active tune with RF by recalling the capacitor and inductor settings stored in one of the 128 memories or indicate a passive tune (silent tune no RF) by recalling from one of the 128 memories the relay settings for capacitors and inductors.
?
The memory which holds the capacitor and inductor relay settings is RAM which is held up by the battery so that information remains stored.
?
When DC power is removed from the unit the relays and CPU reset so the current tune status is lost and tuning will need to be reinitiated on power on with either an active tune or passive tune described above.
?
This is also the case for the BCC540C and BCC540F
?

Re: Racal BCC 540G AAMTU Question
?
Dave,
?
Thanks for your response.
?
Just to be clear when using the momentary break method no data is stored. Tuning data is only stored when using the PWM method. Is this data still stored when the unit has no supply e.g. when the connected radio is powered off?

Graham,? I dont use groups.io so much, so I ask a stupid question. How can I use graham_douglas@.... ? |

Re: Racal BCC 540G AAMTU Question
There are two distinct tune modes with the BCC540G
?
The first one is the standard initiate tune by momentarily breaking and restoring the DC supply on Pin C and then applying at least 1w of RF the tuning sequence will then complete or stop at the nearest point to a correct tune.
?
The second method if used with a suitable radio e.g BCC39 is for the set to send a PWM serial control word to select one of 128 memory locations. This is what the battery is for to keep those memories active.
?
If DC power is removed from the ATU then the current tune position is lost and on re-applying the DC supply then one to the above procedures is needed to activate the tune again.
?
Hope this makes sense

SYNCAL 2000 VIU RAILS
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi all, ? I am contemplating purchasing a Syncal 2000 VIU to set up my Syncal 2000 in my land rover. However, there is no point in buying it if I can¡¯t acquire the rails to mount it. If anyone has a set for sale, please let me know. I¡¯d happily pay 4X what Jeff was asking. Thanks ? ? ? 73 Eugene W2HX

Re: RA1792 Specs?
Those Sherwood specs are only of very limited use in average amateur radio conditions.
If you look at professional grade receivers, these specs are useless as capabilities of a radio to deal with noise are much more important and professional receivers lack these capabilities in general. ?
I am a bit confused about your callsign however,.... PE7ST. |

Racal BCC 540G AAMTU Question
?
The Racal BCC 540G AAMTU will store 128 channels of tuning data.
?
However, notes in the technical manual that I have state that the d.c. supply is to be maintained after a tuning search and if removed this tuning information will be lost.
?
What then is the purpose of the internal 3.5V lithium battery??

Re: Syncal 2000 receiver?
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThanks, Stuart. Very nice set up! Question, what do you have below the Syncal 2000 VIU? Looks like another device with some push buttons? ? ? 73 Eugene W2HX

Re: Programmer MA4073C EMU
OK send some pictures of what you have and what you believe it to be worth and would like for it.
Our posts have been seen by others and I have had multiple offers for the EMU bits of kit I don't want or need and a cash offer.
The obvious thing to me for me to do is leave it in the 319 and it then is a complete setup with all the other bits I have.
Please send the photos directly to graham_douglas@....
I am willing to split it all as I believe it will make more separated and sold.
Regards Doug.
