Racal Cougar battery chemistry?

Hi all
I'm new to the Racal Cougar kit and I picked up a 144mhz unit at a rally yesterday. My question is what is the chemistry of the main battery on the SMT unit for charging purposes ?
I have a NIMH for the radio itself but I read there are also Nicad cell packs so I just want to charge it correctly, thanks ??

Wanted Details / Circuit for IF convertor 4100020

Which is a wideband IF convertor from 40.455 MHz to 21.4 MHz and appears to be useful for using a panadapter with any of the 40.455MHz first IF receivers such as the RA6790/GM and the RA1792.? It does physically fit in the space in those where the ISB card or 100 kHz IF converter fits.

If anyone has any details, such as supply voltage(s) needed I'd be grateful, and I guess tracing out the schematic will keep me quiet for at least a week :^)

Thank you Bill!? That's a great help, and I'll try that tomorrow.? I have an original Racal manual, but I find now I need it that some pages are missing.? I'll try to find the one you mention.

It looks like 20:1. 20t on TR12 collector side. The xfmr turns ratios are marked on the TR48 (same as TRA931) schematic from Radiomuseum.org.
On my TRA931, I had one xfmr completely broken off the PC board and one with half the leads snapped. Luckily I was able to strip and resolder what was left of the leads. The TR48 schematic was more helpful to me than the TRA931 schematics.

It's T4 feeding the base of TR13 from the collector of TR12 on the MA930
board.

My guess was either 4:2 or 6:2 turns.

Check with Gary Wingerd.? I bought new EPROMs from him, but it was probably 10-11 years ago.?

Racal RA6790/GM firmware

I have attached bin files for the standard GM firmware set, A08449.?

Give me a couple of days to locate them, I thought I gave them to the group a bunch of years ago

Re: Syncal 30 TRA-931 frequency dial lights?

sorry for all the consecutive posts.
It only dawn on me right now. The phosphor in the glass ampules is still good, its only the Tritium gas that has gone through several half lifes of decay
If one still wants the original greenish glow, just use UV LED's to energize the phosphor.
I have a UV flashlight( 365nm) and when the faint blue light hits the old glass ampules, they all glow bright green.
May be its over kill but instead of removing the aluminum plate with the glass ampules, just illuminate them with some UV led's

Re: Syncal 30 TRA-931 frequency dial lights?

I've used 1mm OD pins from a D-Sub 9? or 25 male connector to mate with the microphone connectors in the Syncal.
Attached are three pics. Two of the diy connector for the external speaker/amp + charger connection
the third pic is of the radio's power pins in the mic connector, which I plan to use to power the LED dial lights.
Didn't have to make a hole in the radio's front panel.

PS does anyone have a source for the knob center caps? Mine were crumbly and one fell apart when being removed.
