Hi Roland,

These are are fairly rare. If you don't receive any response here, you might want to go to the South African Radio League website and post a query on the forums there for the manual

You have the highest probability of running into someone who would have had something to do with the South African branch of Racal, Racal -SMD and ?the TR-38 on that website.

Dave Larsen, ZS6DN was a leading member of SMD Electronics, later Racal-SMD which developed the TR-38 and its sister manpack the TR-28. You can read a little history of the company here:

I bought some of these batteries from this seller last year with no problems.? They are MA4025D? Z9/6240-99-780-8603.
They dismantle easily so are a good source of tagged 4Ah D cells for other applications.? I used?some to rebuild a PRC2000 battery pack.

I have? reclaimed a?Syncal 30 batty pack from a colleague, now minus all the cells thrown away!, I am told the cells are slightly different dimensions to standard, need to be tagged top/bottom, has anyone recelled a MA948 I think it is?

They are not mine, although I have used this e bayer before, and he is one of the few nicer guys around, and no he has not put me up to this, but please check they are 4025's, they look as though they are!

Military still buying HF radio!

 

DoD Awards Harris $139M Order for HF Radios (5/6/10)

Harris received a $139 million order to provide additional high-frequency (HF) tactical radio systems for the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Joint Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) Vehicle Program. The radio systems will be installed in new standard-size MRAP vehicles and MRAP all-terrain vehicles (M-ATVs).

"This software-defined radio system will provide beyond-line-of-sight communications in the rugged and mountainous terrain of Afghanistan,” said Steve Marschilok, president, U.S. Department of Defense business, Harris RF Communications.

I just joined the group in hopes in finding info on Racal portables and your message cought my attention. I too have a PRC-134 but with an RF board problem. I was wondering if you have any resources on '134 spares? Do you repair boards?

????????I have a Marconi Scimitar-H HF manpack up for sale. It has a fault and does not function correctly. It comes with:

VRM 4156 PROGRAMMABLE TRANSCEIVER

 

Hello all,
I wonder if anyone has a control cable for the above transceiver?
ThIS Connects the MA4935A controller to the transceiver and looks the same as the Clansman 321 control cable but has a 7 pin male 5 pin female connector on one end and 7 pin female 5 pin male on tother.
