My manual states that there are 19 cells in the MA934 battery pack, and indeed that is what was in mine ( ex-Iraqi military). I was easily able to re-cell mine with generic Chinese made D size NiMH

John In principle I agree what you say. My syncal 30 has the Clansman type socket, but I use it with a 6 pin plug - Ex A13 radio Mike B m1cf

To add a bit more info, you need a handset with a "Larkspur" type connector. The standard telephone handset used with those radios is the Racal Part number ST719215. The Amphenol connector type used
