Contest Details: Have you ever wanted to know the lore of crafted remedies that have been passed down generation to generation through Lithrydel? Remedies are crafted everyday by witches, botanists, healers, and more that study the craft. What sort of ritual is used to conjure the famous Frostmaw Potion? A Sleeping Potion? What is the deal with Purple Liquid and why does one feel a burst of rejuvenation once consumed–who in this realm came up with that plain name?! Well, now is the time to shine to create lore behind these restorative items that are used daily in Lithrydel! Or perhaps one has a new recipe crumpled in their pocket to share with the world. Think of the Following: Potion/Salve/Healing Remedy Name (can be an in-game Hollow item or an original creation) What unique herbs/items are used to conjure the remedy? Does the concoction have a special appearance? (bioluminescent, glimmering, black and soupy, etc.) What is the legend behind the remedy/potion? What benefits/non-benefits does the tonic have? Rules: Participants may submit up to three entries. Prizes: Each participant who submits an entry will earn 5,000 gold for participation. As the USS Valkyrie pushes deeper into unexplored space, a new threat to the galaxy is emerging! A threat like no one in the Federation has ever dreamed possible. Having advanced slowly over the centuries this threat is now spreading faster and faster as it contaminates warp capable species. The USS Valkyrie is about to encounter the first those running from the spread of the Defiled. A multi-mission series of events is about to begin that will take the Federation where it has truly never gone before. To survive and defeat this menace the Valkyrie needs you. Exploration, Investigations, Unexplained phenomena, Medical and Scientific puzzles, Humanitarian efforts, Moral dilemmas, Hostage situations, Unimaginable Discovery, and yes Combat, all await those aboard the USS Valkyrie. While the senior staff positions are currently filled, Assistant Department Heads are needed, the 2nd Officer's position is open, and junior officer and other crew are also needed. The effort to survive and defeat the Defiled will take an “all hands on deck” effort. Possibly culminating, if other CO's are interested, in a Multi-Sim joint mission and final battle. Junior Officers, Cadets, Enlisted, and Civilian personnel are all more than welcome. The Valkyrie even has a “Lower Decks” style group growing and who knows the trouble they'll get into. Frontier Entrepreneur Plot and Purpose This Star Frontiers campaign is set in 50 FY, and oriented towards: Freelance opportunities including: Exploration of remote worlds, some of which are not yet habitable Investigation, Recovery, Security, and Mercenary contracts Mining and commerce The formal and informal politics of Port Loren, Gran Quivera, Prenglar, the civic center of the Frontier, as well as important events taking place on other worlds. The party will be presented with a variety of livelihood options ranging in profitability, risk, moral considerations, and scientific problem solving. The story’s media-based “lore” for the players is at least initially centered in the Prenglar System, and focuses on technology (particularly vehicles) more than the usual Alpha Dawn campaign. The AD/KH mechanics have been adapted to the D20 Modern/Future ruleset, and uses the Gadget System in D20 Future Tech, which allows for a wide customization of weapons and other equipment. The general conversion from D20 to SF metrics is such that for every +1 boost (or -1 penalty), the SF rate adds a 5% probability increase (or decrease) to the desired outcome in a resolution. The Dominion Wars ended, The USS Voyager returned from the Delta Quadrant, the Romulan Empire opened up to the Federation. With the rebuilding of the fleet, the new technology brought back by Voyager, and the stabilization of the region a new age has dawned for the Federation. One of the newest ships to launch is the USS Valkyrie, a Vesta class starship equipped with state of the art technologies, including a Quantum Slipstream Drive (QSD).
