CAMRA: Hull Real Ale & Cider Festival 2025 - First Aiders
Dear RACEY Email Group Member. For those of you that are also CAMRA members. Message from Chris Robertson, Staffing Officer for the CAMRA, Hull Real Ale & Cider Festival 2025. Subject to HQ approval, the Branch intends to hold its first beer festival for a few years on 30th/31st October and 1st November (Thurs-Sat) at the Minerva Masonic Hall on Dagger Lane/Prince Street. A Festival Committee has been formed and I have been allocated the role of staffing officer. A full request for festival volunteers will be made a little later but there is a vital role that needs to be sought for even now. These days we MUST have a qualified First Aider on hand at all times the festival is open. To employ a professional would be pretty expensive so we are grateful to one of the committee, Josh Burnham, who is qualified and is prepared undertake the role. However, it is not possible for him to do so at all times, nor is it reasonable to expect him to. Therefore, I would ask now if any more members hold a current First Aider certificate and would be willing to be appointed on a voluntary basis to cover this role for one or more of the festival sessions. Alternatively, if someone is willing to become qualified please let us know and we will enquire about training courses and costs. Without this we are highly unlikely to gain approval as the role is a requirement. Please let me know as soon as possible if you would be prepared, as a qualified First Aider, to volunteer to be nominated for any sessions. The specific days/times can be confirmed later. Many Thanks. Chris Robertson Festival Organiser chrisjrobertson@...

CAMRA: Hull & East Yorkshire Branch - 50th Year Celebration
Dear RACEY Email Group Member. I am distributing this email on behalf of John Rushforth (Branch Social Secretary). JOIN US THIS MONTH TO CELEBRATE OUR 50 YEARS AS A CAMRA BRANCH! PAVE is hosting a 50th year celebration for Hull & East Yorkshire from 1pm on Saturday afternoon (22nd February). Situated at 16-20 Princes Avenue Hull HU5 3QA, PAVE has been a flagship, a destination for social relaxation in the popular Avenues area of the city for 23 years under Lee Armstrong's free of tie and independent management. PAVE is an accessible-for- all, dog friendly welcoming eclectic mix in an open one room space with a real fire. A constantly changing 4 real ales in excellent condition across different styles, always with a dark, a bitter and a pale, changing real ciders (an apple and raspberry cider from Celtic Marches was on hand-pull last week) plus a wide range of bottle, can and keg offerings from across Europe means there is something for everyone, including cafe bar style tea or coffee so you won't be disappointed if you need a hot drink. In case you need directions, it is 5 minutes by the Stagecoach number 5 bus from Hull's Paragon Interchange. If you prefer a one mile walk from the Interchange, take the bus route, which is left from the station along Ferensway, left down Spring Bank then right at the end onto Princes Avenue. Pave is 200 metres along there, on the right. You will certainly discover an excellent range of liquid refreshments to suit your tastes at PAVE on arrival. Lee is hoping to get a special beer from the wood as something extra to look forward to, as well as meeting up with old friends, making new ones and having a great day out. Princes Avenue is also a food destination, where you can find something to suit everyone, right across the day and evening. So, whether local or not, please let me know if you are coming via the following email: socialsecretary@... And please invite friends and family, as they are very welcome to attend. Visiting from outside of the city? If visiting, you should take in more of Hull's delights across the day or weekend. We will be happy to point you in the right direction for whatever you are looking for, as we have plenty of surprising gems in addition to those around our famous Old Town streets. For example, The Ship on Hodgson Street, across the other side of the city, is celebrating 3 years since reopening with a festival. In that time, it has gained a great reputation, so a visit on Saturday evening or Sunday should be on the cards. See you on Saturday! John Rushforth as Social Secretary on behalf of the organising sub-committee

GBG 2026 surveys.
Dear RACEY Email Group Member. For those of you that are CAMRA Members, I am distributing this message on behalf of Andy Currie. Pub of the Year judging is now complete. Thanks to those members who were involved in this. I am now looking for more volunteers to complete the GBG 2026 pub surveys. (Thanks to those who have already done so). This involves checking the Pubzilla database entries (I provide copy) such as phone nos, beers for sale, social media links, facilities and rewording of the GBG entry. The deadline for completion is 15th February. I have pubs available in Hull (mainly HU1), Beverley, Cottingham, Dunswell, Kirkella & Kilnsea. Please let me know if you can help out. I can email documentation or drop off at a suitable city centre pub (usually Hop & Vine). Please contact me by text/WhatsApp 07984160937 or email vicechair@.... I will then send you a list of the pubs which are available for inclusion in the next guide so that you can choose which you would like to visit. Not all pubs will end up being selected as the list includes reserves, and of course if the beer deteriorates, or the licensee moves on, then they cease to be available for selection. Thanks. Andy Currie.
