The new FEMA 5 AUXCOMM Digital Net will start next month (March).? You are invited to, and I hope you will, take part.? This net will take place on the second and fourth Sundays of the month.?

The purpose of this net is to give you all a chance to practice with Winlink.? Each net will include a short exercise.

Here's how the net will work:

1.? A few days before the net, I'll send an email with the details of the 'assignment' for the net.

2.? The net will open at 0700 local time and close at 1900 local time.? You can send your message at any time during the net.

3.? Using Winlink, send your net message to W9REL.Radio@....

4. That's it!? You're done until the next net date.

Using Winlink:

1.? Do you have a Winlink Account?

??? a. Yes?? Great.

??? b.? No??

??????? 1.? You will need a computer with the 32 bit or 64 bit Microsoft Windows operating system, Windows Vista or newer.

??????? 2.? In your web browser, go to .

????????? ? a.? Under the Compare Client Programs heading, go to the last column in the first row and click WinLink Express.

???????????? b.? Under the Download heading, click WinLink Express (current production version).

???????? ? ? c.? Install WinLink Express and start the program

???????????????? 1.? The Winlink Express Properties window should open automatically.? If it doesn't, click Settings, then click Winlink Express Setup.? On the left side of the Winlink Express Properties window:

???????????????? 2.? Enter your callsign

???????????????? 3.? Create a password

???????????????? 4.? Enter a Password Recovery Email address.

???????????????? 5.? Click the Request password be sent to recovery email box.? Save the email, especally if, like me, you are possessed of a short memory for passwords.

???????????????? 6.? Further down the left side, enter your grid square.

???????????????? 7.? In the Service Codes box, enter EMCOMM next to PUBLIC.

???????????????? 8.? On the right side of the window, you can enter your contact if you wish but you don't have to.

???????????????? 9.? Finally, click the Update box.

That's it.? YOU'RE DONE!? You can now begin using Winlink.
