Re: S6881 Tree
Hi Jeff, ? I did forget to say when I posted that file that the dates on the right edge are back from when Iain proposed them in 2017. I just left them on for reference. A lot has changed in the tree but he hasn't been able to work on them since then though but he talks about working on them again soon. I've also heard that FTDNA might start their own aging process on SNPs. When Iain proposed that date there were only two matches and a larger block of unbroken SNPs. Now that the block has been broken and there are three of you I'm sure the date would change. But there was always a large variance in that date (meaning hundreds of years possible in either direction) so take the date with a grain of salt and figure it's just a date that says "somewhere around this time give or take". Hopefully, we'll have a better idea this year if they get aging going again. Chris On Wed, Jan 8, 2020 at 4:37 AM Jeff Graves <rwdrive@...> wrote:

Re: S6881 Tree
Hello Chris, First, thank you for all the great information you have pulled together. I do have a question on this tree doc.? I have the SNP BY16322.? There is a column labeled SNP Origin Date valued at 1814.? What does that mean?? For the 3 men listed with it, does it suggest a shared ancestor at that time? Thanks ! Re: S6881 Tree
开云体育I have so many I don’t know where to begin. Others here know so much more than me. So. My plan is to find my first few questions and go from there, wanting them to be useful to others too.?My daughter has returned to school so I’ll have more time this weekend.? Re: S6881 Tree
开云体育We can store anything we want in the files section. We could do a Q&A file of questions and answers. But at this point though no one has asked any ?Chris On Jan 7, 2020, at 6:28 PM, Cynthia Sexton <cynthia8910@...> wrote:

Re: S6881 Tree
开云体育Chris,?If there are questions and you respond I’ll bet that all of us would like to read what you say. Is there a place on the new site where the q&a could be stored? That might be too complicated though. Your thoughts... Cynthia On Jan 7, 2020, at 1:27 PM, Chris Noble <avalea3@...> wrote:

Re: S6881 Tree
开云体育Thank you Chris for providing us with this tool. Remember when S6881 had a membership of 8! Now folks can find our group.io more easily. May we all learn more during this coming year!! On Jan 6, 2020, at 1:45 PM, James Liptrap <jim@...> wrote:

S6881 Tree
I have posted the most recent version of the S6881 tree that I keep based on BigY testing. Since FTDNA limits us to seeing only matches who we have less than 30 SNP mismatches with we lose sight of a lot of the group. For this reason, I put together an Excel spreadsheet type tree with as many of the results as I know. It is quite large with over 70 testers. I'm sharing it in the files section for anyone else who wants to use it.

Re: Data Warehouse upload
开云体育If you have the time you might go back through the messages there and read what Dr. Iain McDonald has posted in the last month or so. He wrote a lot about figuring ages of SNPs and where our group in ancient time may have originated. That’s not going to solve your brick wall but it’s fascinating to see where we may have come from. If you have questions about any of it you can either ask here or there.?Chris On Dec 10, 2019, at 5:06 AM, Jeff Graves <rwdrive@...> wrote:

开云体育Chris, Mary and Jeff, I just upgraded John’s kit to BigY 700, he gave me permission last month but I had missed the holiday discount, it is on again! (189.) Just sent him an email with the update. I now know how to upload results, thank you Chris !!! Cynthia? On Dec 9, 2019, at 11:22 PM, Chris Noble <avalea3@...> wrote:

Re: Data Warehouse upload
开云体育In our group there is a file about Iain’s speculations about SNP ages in our part of the tree but that’s not what I was referring to (though it is interesting). S6881 is on the tree under the major SNP U106 and you should join that group too. Check on your FTDNA account and make sure you’ve joined there. I can give you the link if you haven’t. They have the discussion part of that group (like the discussions we have here) separate from FTDNA. You can join here: [email protected]Let me know if that doesn’t work.? Re: Data Warehouse upload
Thanks Chris.? I think i am in there now.? I see under 'files' a liam age speculation document.... guessing thats what you are referring by discussion group.? You are right on my interet area on aging SNPs.? If not please let me know as i am not seeing anything labeled as discussions. I have an ancestor brick wall that I wont give up trying to crack.??

Re: Data Warehouse upload
Great, Jeff! I'm hoping they are still updating the Big Tree. Alex was talking about not doing it anymore but the U106 admins said they still use the data in the Data Warehouse so I at least want it there for them. We'll see how it plays out. Did you join the discussion part of the U106 group? It's another group like this one. I think I saw you on the U106 spreadsheet at FTDNA but the discussion part of that group is here on . If you haven't joined it you should. There has been a lot of stuff going on that you'll probably want to ignore but Iain has been posting about aging SNPs and you might want to follow that kind of thing.
