Do you mean STR steps? ?If so ignore them for any branch that you don¡¯t also share the same terminal SNP branch. Many of us cluster to modal signature. James |
Hi,
I recently wrote to Rob Spencer, who manages the ScaledInnovation site, which incorporates the FTDNA TMRCA date ranges. ? I find the SNP Tracker tool helpful in seeing/visualizing haplogroup subclade evolutions. ? ?He points out the statistics modeling applied here and the confidence intervals around date ranges. ? ?SNP mutations need to be viewed in ranges, not absolutes. ? ?My son (Big Y) and I (CTS4466 SNP Pack 2 @111 marker panel) both see A1133 as our terminal SNP. ? ?Our O'Sullivan genetic ancestry (my grandfather adopted our Smith surname) sits below L270 and FT43021. ? ? At first my son's kit landed at FT43021 then moved a step down to A1133. ? ?As more and more Big Y results are included I'm expecting the CTS4466 data set to mature and become more refined, just as new buds and leaves emerge year after year on deciduous trees. ? I have yet to see an L270 Big Y kit show up among my matches. ? ?The array of surnames appearing on branches descendant to L270, though dominated by Sullivan/O'Sullivan, inform better understanding of various clan septs/branches, and pre-Norman and post-Norman Irish culture across Munster. ?? |
