Survey on SAI Web site
Hi to everyone who's joined our new e-group!
If you haven't done so already - or don't know anything about it - go
to the SAI Web site (www.sweetadelineintl.org) and take the survey
about dual membership within the same region.
International is looking for feedback from all of us before they make
a decision!
Hope to see most of you in Bakersfield this coming weekend!

Angel City at Buckeye
Angel City did VERY well at the Buckeye Invitational last weekend.
It is a contest for SPEBS, SAI, and HI competitors who have just
missed the International cut of their own organization. They compete
with a 12 minute package a la SAI finals. THey are judged by a real
panel, which has a full SAI panel, full SPEBS panle, and one HI
person. They are also judged on entertainment by audience members
who have paid more to judge that category, and then they is an
overall champ.
Angel City was 2nd in "real" scoring, FIRST in entertainment, FIRST
in Women's overall, and 2nd in the grand championship.
Having had the pleasure of participating in this 3 times before
finally being let in to International, I can honestly say they came
away with a ton of hardware that is very difficult to get!
Drop them a congratulatory note and look up their efforts on the
Harmonet with Jade Walker's reporting from Columbus.

Upcoming Change of Email Address
Hi - Doreen Philbin here. Just wanted to give everyone I can think of a
heads-up that my email address will be changing within the next two weeks or
so. We're finally giving up AOL for hopefully greener (and cheaper)
pastures. And, considering my quartet, Sterling, has been gone for years
now, I simply must think of something different next time around, anyway.
Stay tuned for my new "e-dress", or reply that you never want to hear from me
again and I'll delete you from my little electronic black book.
Thanks!

Annual Region 11 dinner in Portland
(Please pass this message on to your chorus.)
--------------------
I know it's last minute, but by popular demand, I've put together another
Region 11 dinner at International. It's a great opportunity to connect with
friends near the end of the fantastic week in Portland.
WHEN: Friday, October 12 at 5:30 (between the Quartet finals and the Coronet
Club show)
WHERE: Pasta Bella ? 709 SW 17th Ave. -- about 2 miles from the Rose Garden
Arena. The MAX transit line stops right in front of the restaurant
MENU: We will be served family-style (if you were in Orlando's restaurant
last year, all that food was served family-style). We will all get plenty of
ALL of the following dishes:
-- Antipasto
-- Spinach salad with raspberry vinaigrette
-- Chicken breast in lemon sauce with artichokes, spinach, and sundried
tomatoes
-- Italian sausage and shrimp in tomato sauce (restaurant specialty)
-- Veal Ossobucco -- thinly sliced veal in white wine/lemon sauce
-- Tiramisu
-- Chocolate mousse
**Beverages are a la carte.**
PRICE: $28 (includes tip) -- there's no tax in Oregon!
The restaurant is small -- only seats 50 -- so the owner is closing it to the
public for our party! Therefore, this dinner is limited to the first 50
people who respond AND SEND ME A CHECK. No check, no reservation. Once I
reach 50 responses, others who are interested will go on a waiting list.
If you'd like to go, please RSVP right away, and then send me a check,
payable to Debbie Curtis. 464 Deerhurst Ave., Camarillo, CA 93012. I must
receive all checks BY OCTOBER 6.
Looking forward to another great Region 11 dinner at International!

New about Joni Bescos
I was asked to forward this note to everyone. Joni's going to miss her first
International in something like 40 years. Please send notes and keep her in
your prayers.
----------------
Hello, everyone -
I just spoke with Sally Briner. She was at the hospital yesterday (9/24)
during and after Joni's surgery. She said the doctor was pleased with the
results, that he removed about 12" of colon and that there were 2 tumors
present ... that one appeared to be benign and the other malignant. He
hasn't decided whether or not she'll be on chemotherapy but that she probably
will. The length of the operation was around 1-2 hours, less than Sally had
thought it would be. She said that there is a feeding tube down Joni's
throat so it would be best not to call her in the hospital for a few days
because it's hard for her to talk around it. Joni's daughter is taking care
of the kitty, as well as things at her home. The following are addresses
that you may be concerned with:
HOSPITAL:
Palomar Hospital
Room 754
555 East Valley Parkway
Escondido, CA 92025
JONI'S HOME:
434 Mahogany Glen
Escondido, CA 92026
Sally said that the surgeon looked like some college kid, but that's what
happens when we begin to add decades to our lives. :) She felt that he
seemed to be quite competent.
Sally asked me to say hello to all of you and she apologized for not being in
touch with you herself, but her computer is down. That's as much information
as I have at this time. If I've missed sending it to anyone who should be
told, please go ahead and let her/him know. There are those who are not
online. Thank you.
