My tutor sent me an email in which she wrote

If you can still get it, I found the book “Introductory Statistics with R” by Peter Dalgaard to be a useful introduction to R.


There appears to be both a first and second edition. The second edition is ?48 at Amazon, but copies can be found on eBay for a quarter of that price.

I would not consider the book an introduction to statistics, as it starts discussing hypothesis testing, p-values etc. It’s not an absolute beginners guide. This book is quite old, and normally I would not have bought such an old book on software, but ?2 including delivery was hard to turn down.?

I bought another couple of R books - one fairly cheap from eBay and the other ?55 from Amazon.? I will report on those when I receive them.?
