DTP Carrier for Epson P-900

开云体育

Hi all,

I am starting my odyssey into DTP Photogravure and built a plate carrier for my P-900 with two sandwiched 2-ply mats, the top has a window to hold the plate.? This measures 2.54mm in thickness.? I found out today that the limit for the P-900 is 1.27 mm thickness using the poster bard front feed.

So my questions:
1.? Does anyone have a work around for this thickness limitation. The P-900 only has platen gap settings of normal and wide.
2.? I am also thinking I could make another carrier using 1 layer of 2-ply board, and 1 layer of 1-ply board but I cannot find a source of 1 ply mat board using Google.
3.? A third option would be to use a piece of card stock as a backing to the 2-ply board, but I cannot locate a 14"x17" piece of that either.

Just use a bigger plate and forgo the carrier entirely. That is what I do. It takes some finesse to load but works great and no hangups . . .

Hi Robert,

I use a 2 ply mat board that is 13x19 that I buy from B&H photo. You can also change the platen using the epson media software. It comes with the printer.?

I have had trouble with the P900, too. Cheap poster board that kids use can be a backing. Some people use wide painters tape, too, around the back edges to hold the plate. That has worked for me. I have had to make sure the plate is slightly below the height of the 2-ply.

I'll Check that out, but in the interim I did finally find mat board of a known thickness so I was able to make a carrier that falls in the 1.27mm maximum thickness restriction.? I found the mat board a Dick Blick.? I seems that the mat board sold by Michaels and Hobby Lobby is much thicker than 2 ply although they say that is what they have.
