New QSI driver- released 8/5/24
Hello Barry,
?
Yes update includes 64 bit support, there is also a new QSI demo app that can be used to test the cameras with. The gain and offset functions will only work with the new CMOS 700 series cameras though.
?
We would be glad to hear any feed back support@...
?
Thanks

Does anybody know if there is any firmware upgrade for the 500 series anywhere? Or in alternative, do you know if the 600 series firmware is good also for the 500? thanks Nicola Il giorno dom 11 ago 2024 alle ore 22:53 Peter Vasey via <petevasey=[email protected]> ha scritto: Who knows?? Vince,
?
Thank you for your response. I should have been more specific with my objectives.?
?
I am using my QSI 600 series camera with TSX and FM5. FM5 has the ability to change the Readout Mode to improve the download speed when focusing. When complete, it switches it back to whatever it was before. Presumably the High imaging quality selection.
?
Many users are stuck using the 32bit version of TSX because the ASCOM driver does not operate the same way the X2 driver works for QSI cameras.?
?
Will this new driver accommodate the process I have noted above and secondly, are there any plans of introducing a 64bit X2 driver?
?
Thank you in advance,
Barry |
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýCurious if anyone has used the updated QSI drivers with a 500 series camera and Sequence Generator Pro?Thank you, Phillip On Aug 12, 2024, at 10:10 AM, Barry Schellenberg via groups.io <barryschellenberg@...> wrote:

Hello Barry,
?
We (QSI/Atik) had to change to supporting just the ASCOM driver to make support more manageable as there were so many different astro programs out there. I can certainly talk with our software team about the possibilities for a 64 bit X2 driver. The QSI Cameras ASCOM plugin does now work in the 64 bit TSX.
?
I hope this helps
?
Thanks

Hi Vince, does it mean that if the camera will eventually fail I can simply throw it in the trash bin with no chance of repair? Nicola Il giorno gio 15 ago 2024 alle ore 11:25 QSI Imaging via <contact=[email protected]> ha scritto:

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi Vince, this message is a bit provocative. On the face of it, it looks as though you only support Windows now, while my old 500-series camera worked perfectly well under macOS running TheSkyX. I¡¯ve now moved it another scope where it¡¯s running under KStars/Ekos running on a Raspberry Pi. I looked at your website and in fact you do offer a bit more than just ASCOM: you offer an API and a shared library under Linux. But it¡¯s not said if the LINUX code runs only on x86 processors or if it also runs on ARM processors (such as the Raspberry-Pi) And although KStars/Ekos runs on macOS as well as Linux, there¡¯s no mention of macOS at all on your website. This is a pity and will oblige me to find a different camera vendor when it¡¯s time to replace the old QSI. Cheers, Richard BTW, you should remove the subtitle on the web page for Drivers and Software. It currently says ¡°Comprehensive Software Support¡± which it clearly isn¡¯t, since there¡¯s no support for a widely used platform (macOS)
|
Thank you for your consideration Vince. I will share with you that there has been a lot of ¡°noise¡± on this issue in the many forums I participate in. The ASCOM driver has limitations, such as the one I described in my earlier post.?
A 64 bit X2 driver would go a long way for you guys as you continue with the QSI brand.?

Hello Barry,
?
Thank you for your feedback. We are committed to growing the QSI brand and advancing it into the future. However, our current resources for software development are somewhat limited. As sales of the new QSI 700 cameras increase, we hope to allocate more resources toward developing the new X2 drivers and enhanced macOS support.
?
?
We are focusing all our amateur astronomy efforts on the QSI brand and have exciting plans for new products in the future so naturally will want to evolve the software.
?
Thanks
Vince
