QSI683 randomly disconnecting
Dear All, I suffer from random camera disconnection. Camera: QSI683wsg with ASCOM platform 6.4 SP1 on Windows 10 Basically everything starts normally but then after a while I get a disconnection and the session is blocked. Even worse, normally it happens when I sleep so I wake?up in the morning only to realize I did only a small fraction of an entire night, which is so frustrating. Does anybody have the same issue and how did you solve it? Clear skies Nicola |

If your camera is plugged into a USB hub that is not powered, and the computer is running other software (planetarium, guiding, etc.), the computer will prioritize lower processor-demanding software first,?which is why my hub is powered. As Ray suggested, try new power and data cables. It would be interesting?to know what 'mode' light the camera shows in the morning (red, yellow, or green). Also, I use an older laptop, running Windows 10 with 8gb of RAM. Sometimes out in the observatory, where the Wifi signal is pretty non-existent, the security software?will attempt to run a scan during my imaging session. This used to cause an occasional problem, until?I turned off Wifi while imaging, which solved the issue. BTW, I also have a 683-wsg-8 camera.? ?- - Steve On Tue, Mar 4, 2025 at 12:14?PM Ray Stann via <raystann=[email protected]> wrote:

Nicola,
Check the Properties of your USB Controllers in Device Manager (<Windows key>X), and see if "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is checked in the Power Management tab.? If you have checked it before, check it again.? Sometimes Windows updates turn this back on.
Good luck,

Hello everybody, I finally fixed the issue with random disconnecting of the camera! It was a classical?"man in the middle" issue. All the devices mounted on the optical train were connected with both power supply and USB ports to my Wanderer Astro Plus V3 powerbox. Power supply seems fine, but the fault was in the USB ports of this powerbox. After reconnecting the USB cables to an industrial 12v powered USB Hub everything came back to normal. So be warned in case you were thinking of getting a powerbox for both 12v and USB. Clear skies Nicola Il giorno mer 5 mar 2025 alle ore 21:28 Pictor User via <pictor-mb=[email protected]> ha scritto:
