Would some kind soul give me 6 or so small banana plugs to lunch on Friday? Also can a counterpoise wire be too long? 3
Do you happen to have an extra 6 or so small banana plugs that you could give me at lunch Friday? I don't know the exact size, but 2mm jumps into my mind. I want to use them on a counterpoise wire. I want to almost permanently connect a spade connector to a nut on the rig and have a short pig tale where I could connect the wire counterpoise with a banana plug, so it's a small banana plug. I'm afraid I will loose the nut on the rig if I keep screwing and unscrewing it to add or remove the counterpoise. Seems like a good idea to me. If it's not a good idea I would also like to know that. Also, can you ever have a counterpoise wire that is too long? Thanks, Joy N6GO

Qmx transceiver by Qrp Labs 3
I received mine this week from Tommy Gober, N5DUX who built it for me (eyes don't work like they used to). First impressions it's a real winner. More later. Anyone else have one??

A novel remote controller for a magnetic loop antenna 11
While taking apart a 3D printer recently, our friend Jeff Reagan, AJ6WX, discovered an interesting electro-mechanical phenomenon. When you connect two identical stepper motors in parallel and manually turn one motor the other motor turns exactly the same way, clockwise or counter-clockwise. One motor works as an electric power generator and the power thus generated is sufficient to turn the other motor. Jeff thought that such a two-motor combination may work to built a remote control system for a magnetic loop. He gave me the two motors from his canniibalized 3D printer for me to experiment. I built a prototype this week and field-tested it yesterday. Here it is. Every part of this construction is from my junk box. The reduction gear is from a WWII military radio BC348's dial mechanism. The capacitor is a vintage butterfly capacitor about 60 pf. A discerning eye may notice Erector parts, my favorite old-timer's 3D printer. The antenna covers 17, 15, 12 and 10m. The remote control worked smoothly and easy to use. Hiroki AH6CY

Thank you Eric 2
Eric your very generous raspberry pi donation arrived today. Thank you for your kindness and we will make sure it finds a good home. Guys, Eric donated a complete Raspberry Pi 3 CanaKit to Tommy Gober, N5DUX who works with the ARRL Teacher Institute. Tommy is collecting Raspberry Pis and RTL-SDR dongles to do a pilot program to put WSPR Reporting stations in schools. Thank you again, Eric. Yes, I am still accepting equipment. Doug, KI6DS

BEYOND THE BEACON: CONRAD DISCOVERS THE UNEXPECTED BENEFITS OF WSPR 2
This is an article from qrper.com on the benefits of WSPR. It's really interesting. Hiroki, I think you will enjoy this article. I think this might get me to re-connect my Zach Tek transmitter. https://qrper.com/2024/07/beyond-the-beacon-conrad-discovers-the-unexpected-benefits-of-wspr/ Joy N6GO

Nice QRP Mag article on Poor Man's KH-1 3
We have all probably seen Hiroki's handheld uSDX radio with his novel enclosures, but it looks even better in print. Also in the same mag is an article on upgrading the Baofeng Mic. using a PUI Audio AOM-5024L-HD-R high output cartridge mic. Check it out....Dave W6VYC

Hiroki sBITx hat 2
Hiroki, if you look on page 6, the middle column, of the QRP Quarterly, you will find a little review of Ashar Farhan's talk at FDIM. In the last paragraph it mentions the sBITx hat that I gave you. It gives a little more information about what is on the PCB (Si5351 clock generator, a 96kbps, dual-channel audio codec). Maybe this means sometime exciting to you.....for me it's "what is this for?". It may give you some ideas on how to use it. If I end up coming to lunch tomorrow I'll bring the mag. I won't be doing ops......only eating. Joy N6GO

Cap-Tivation 6
I'm looking for some simple soft plastic end caps for SO-239 chassis connectors (pic) (have some metal ones). Do not need to be anti-static. Qty ~12. Having surprising difficulty finding them at reasonable prices (incl. shipping) on eBay and Amazon. Shipping $$$ on DXE. Any suggestions? Thanks, --David KM6RI

AlexLoop HamPack w/RC2 Remote 8
It will come as a shock to none of you that after learning of Alex's passing, I bought the latest version of the AlexLoop (that name was coined by Hiroki) complete with remote. Alex went through a lot of design iterations with the remote over many years, but the final result is elegant and simple. It's a one-screw install, and Alex provides tools and spares. Here are a couple of pics. ?ooking forward to trying it out when it cools off. 73, Eric NF6S ex WD6DBM ?
