Re: Case for trusdx

Good one Clifford, or is Cliffton?

Re: Case for trusdx

$30 is pretty cheap for heart valve surgery!? Oh, not what you meant, never mind, ha ha.

Re: Case for trusdx

That's exactly why we designed the case.? The trusdx is too good a radio to have a case that makes it look like a toy.? I have been using my trusdx with Chinese Chelegance Clone every day to work 5 to 10 pota stations 98% on 20 meters because that's where the activators are.

My receiver hears everything my KX2/KX3 does.? It's an unbelievable value for $138, even if you only use it for cw.? But, it does take some fiddling with.?
Stay cool, and thank you for your comments.? Doug

Personally, I like the orange case....kind of reminds me of a Mattel toy.

If you can remember this slogan you are old.?

Re: ZachTeks Summer Sale is on!

Now that I have two thru-wall antenna ports in chester, as soon as I can get the zachtek 15m rx, I will hook it to a hamstick and let it run when I am not there.? Should be interesting.??

Unsolicited Testimonial for an anti glare computer Screen

I use a hand me down "HP scepter X360" laptop when I am FORCED to use a PC because no Mac version exists. ?I want to take the laptop outdoors to possibly use with a logging program but the screen glares so much, even in the house by a window or door, I just couldn't see how I was ever going to be able to use it outside. I found an anti glare screen on Amazon with a lot of good ratings and so bought it.

It is FANTASTIC. You get two screen protectors in the pack. There was really almost no glare when I took the PC in the backyard. My husband has the same model PC and if I take his outside, the glare is so bad it feels like needles going into my eyes.......not that I have ever had needles in my eyes but I can image. Below is the link if you want to check it out.?

Re: No show today

Had a nice eyeball qso with Cliff and Dolores at the Creamery in downtown PA. Cliff caught me up on all his rocket man adventures in NV and CA. and on the Red Oak Victory Museum Ship in Richmond. I definitely want to take a trip up there to visit it. Might have to wait for a little cooler weather.?

We enjoyed 75 and a breeze for a brief stop at Eden Landing, east end of San Mateo bridge.

88 and mild breeze in San Mateo.? 90+ in Palo Alto.? Met with Joy for a little while.

107 at Dolores' house in Dublin.

Whew!

See you guys next Friday. It was 108 when we passed by San Rafeal on Wednesday. Booneville and Calistoga were in the 90s. We went out to the Mendocino and Ft. Bragg where it was about 70.

Yes there are markings laser etched.? Very helpful.? ?I'm going to try the sharpie trick on my clone.

Re: No show today

Some of the features of my set up

A finger trap style coaxial strain relief at the antenna. This uses synthetic rope which is pulled apart and then re-woven around the coax, so the weight of the coax doesn¡¯t pull on the connections at the bottom of the antenna.

Homemade lugs for connecting the coax to the Internet. These are just made out of a little piece of copper, drill a hole for the bolt and fold over the corners for soldering and for strain relief. Much less expensive than buying them, and I can always get them in the size that I need with short notice

The main vertical element is the driven element from a small Yagi which uses traps to get the tri-band low SWR . For 10 m for example the trap separates the upper section from the lower section, so the lower section resonates at 10 m and the upper section doesn¡¯t do anything. The trap basically has no conduction only at 10 m and good conduction on other bands.

Another idea was to operate from cw from noon to 1, this is the ¡°slow speed test ¡°. There are US and DX stations on there, and lots of people so that it¡¯s fun to make a bunch of contacts quickly

I think it is a good decision to avoid the strong heat in the hottest part of the day! I guess there¡¯s no zoom also.

Re: Chelegance MC-750 Clone from Ali Express

Doug,

I think K4SWL has a POTA youtube video on the original, and if memory serves it has markings on the whip?? Easy to add to a clone with a sharpie, of course, but might be helpful to watch for those considering it.
