Re: Doug's CalQrp Tip#1
Doug, clever!? I just keep mine in a Ziploc baggie that my fumble fingers can't open and I can't remember which one is open, short, load.? I'll have to look carefully and mark them with a sharpie. On September 5, 2024 6:42:12 PM PDT, Doug Hendricks <ki6ds1@...> wrote:

Re: Friday
Friday I will be on my way to Auburn. Maybe next week. ?Have a good time.?

PS. I was able to make two CW contacts with a stations in WY and ID from my backyard with my new 20 ft mast I purchased at Hamvention with 6 watts. It shrinks down to 16" so it fits in a suitcase. It's from Giga parts. They have raised the price from $80 to $100 since Hamvention. It's really nice and stiff and has a loop at the end for putting an S clip to easily connect your wire. I'm going to try it today in the driveway on my newly built "drive on" mast stand.?
?
Enjoy Friday.

Re: New Yaesu QRP rig
Thank you, Joy.? For some reason, "10w" stuck in my head and I never thought to look closely.? Cliff On August 25, 2024 9:53:31 AM PDT, Joy Rabins <doghouse3@...> wrote:

Re: New Yaesu QRP rig
The different ratings for CW and SSB suggest that the limitation is heating not voltage. CW/digital/FM are all "full power" when transmitting.

Cliff, I just looked at the specs for the Alex Loop newer model and it says?
"10 W on CW/digital/FM and 25 W on SSB.' ?So depending on what mode you could do 25W. Joy |
Excellent video on using the KX2 for Sota/Pota hunting
I came across this 21 min video of using the KX2 for hunting Sota/Pota. It explained some features I either didn't know about or know how to use. Take a look.

Re: New Yaesu QRP rig
Thanks, Oliver.? Ken dressed up in full zombie regalia the few years we did the Zombie Walk together (both stationary), and he festooned his mag loop with spiderwebs, plastic spiders, etc, and wore full zombie makeup.? What a character.? I'm saddened to learn of his passing.??
