Hi Dave! ? If you search for "dust caps" on dxengineering you'll turn some up. ??

Re: Cap-Tivation

If they don't have to be soft, I could try to 3d print them. You'd need a 3d model though

KPH Night of Nights

hey folks, not exactly QRP - more like QRO - but KPH is operating Night of Nights tomorrow, Friday evening.? The story made front page of the Mercury News

MRHS web site has frequencies and scheds:

When they took over and restored the Pt Reyes and Bolinas sites, they resolved to carry on at 00:01 as if the station had never stopped operating.

How about a 1 hour sprint.? See who can work the most contacts, the greatest distance. Etc

There are enough people among us ?who own the AlexLoop and other mag loop antennas to have a mag loop festival/shootout. Let¡¯s do it when the WX becomes more tolerable.

Re: Doug: Question about QRP guys 20,30,40 antenna

Joy here is what I call the Chinese Clone.? ?The coil is used for 30 and 40 meters, and is about $20 on Aliexpress.? The rest is $27 - $30, depending on who you buy it from on Aliexpress.? So, the antenna. 40 - 6, is a pretty good deal.? I think it would be fantastic at Baylands.? ?Swr is easy to get below 1.2 to 1 on cw portion of 20 meters, no tuner.? Hope that helps.? Doug

Re: AlexLoop lives

Good idea Eric but that will probably be later than sooner.? Hot hot hot here again today

Re: AlexLoop lives

That is great news, Hiroki.??

Perhaps we should have an AlexLoop Gathering at Baylands soon, after it cools off.?

Hello Hiroki,

I forgot to mention that in the last year before he passed away, my father prepared my brother to continue with the company. We are managing to serve the companies that resell AlexLoop.

Re: Doug: Question about QRP guys 20,30,40 antenna

Here is the coil

Re: Doug: Question about QRP guys 20,30,40 antenna

Well, swr depends on a lot of things including the environment.? ?You can trim the wire and adjust the turns to get it resonate on all 3 bands.? Having said that,? you will get slightly different results depending on the location.? ?I always use a tuner.

I have a suggestion.? ?Why don't you buy one of the Chinese verticals with base and stake for less than $30.? Add the coil for 40 and 30 and you are good to go.

Re: Where do you get wire??

I think the last remaining business for small walk-in purchases is Anchor Electronics in Santa Clara.

Re: Where do you get wire??

Did anyone look at Anchor Electronics? They still sell surplus stuff.

Cliff, we went to Jameco during the pandemic to get something they should have had it stock. When we walked in, it was apparent they didn't really have much of any inventory to see in the "store". Everything was on line so we walked out empty handed and disappointed. Things may have changed now......or not. I would give them a call and ask what they have inventory wise for "walk ins".

Re: Where do you get wire??

I wonder if Alan Steel and Supply in San Carlos would have any.

Doug: Question about QRP guys 20,30,40 antenna

Doug, sorry for this basic question. I found a qrp guys 20,30,40 antenna in a drawer that I want to use. I think the reason I stopped using it is I cut the wire too short when I was building it. I have plenty of wire now and I wanted to give it another try with my QMX and or 20M QCX mini. There are no tuners in either of these rigs and I would prefer not to use an external turner. Is the qrp guys 20,30,40 resonant on those bands so I can use the rigs on 20m without damaging them? I would check the SWR with an antenna analyzer. The QMX has protection so it will shut off with high SWR and/or power too low or too hight, but the QCX mini has no protection. I built 95% or it with my husband's supervision and I would cry like a baby if I ruined it because of not using the right antenna.?

By the way, I miss having you at the Bayland's lunch table.?

Re: Where do you get wire??

Dick, Oh yea, that was the other thing when we walked into Jameco, it was a $50 min. That slammed the door on our purchase. I think we were looking for a connector or something inexpensive.?
