WSJT-X with QMX
I'm trying to get WSJT-X v2.7.0-rc2 going with my QMX using 009 firmware.
If I select Kenwood TS-440S then Test CAT works, the button goes green. Press Test PTT and it fails with a lengthy message in a message bow which I can't copy other than with print screen. Some say that Kenwood TS-480 works, TestCAT gives this error message: There's also a QRPLabs QCX/QDX rig option, this also fails, TestCAT gives this message: Yes, I have the right COM port. Data bits, stop bits and handskake all default. Mode is None and Split operation is None. Does anyone have an idea where to look for a solution, or what could be wrong. Chris, G5CTH |
开云体育Thanks Alan,
I'm not sure what the current official
release is, there's an "improved" version that has some nice
features which is being handled by someone who's approved. He
seems to add the latest bleeding edge version of HamLib and that
could be the problem.
Something for tomorrow... Chris, G5CTH On 20/08/2023 19:58, Alan G4ZFQ wrote:

开云体育Version 2.6.1 of WSJT-X worked and I've made contacts on about a watt. Also sent diagnostic data so hopefully it will get fixed. Chris, G5CTH/QRP |
FYI: I'm running WSJT-X v2.7.0-rc2 on Windows 10 and it's working fine with my QMX on v1.009 firmware. I do however see similar Hamlib related errors if I have software that uses Hamlib open first because that blocks access to the COM port that WSJT-X is trying to connect to. In my case that other software is Log4OM. So If I open WSJT-X first (before other software using Hamlib), then WSJT-X works fine. Log4OM can then open, but it won't be able to use it's CAT control since WSJT-X has taken that COM port. My WSJT-X settings for Radio are: Rig: Kenwood TS-440S Poll Interval: 1s Serial Port: COM4 (your's likely different) [I've ensured that in my device settings for COM4 (Windows 10) are set the same as in WSJT-X as below) Baud Rate: 19200 Data Bits: Eight Stop Bits: One Handshake: Default Force Control Lines: (nothing set) PTT Method: CAT (Port: USB Greyed out and not settable) Transmit Audio Source: (Greyed out, not settable) Mode: None Split Operation: Rig 73 Roy - KI0ER |
开云体育It's the version of HamLib with the newer versions on WSJT-X. I downloaded and installed WSJT-X 2.6.1 and it was fine, lots of QSOs, even with 1W. And copying libhamlib-4.dll from the 2.6.1 install to the new version makes it work with the new versions. Chris

Chris,
What does this mean? And copying libhamlib-4.dll from the 2.6.1 install to the new version makes it work with the new versions. Chris |
Thank you for that. I am computer caveman! I have generally a very hard time eit many of these programs and idiosyncracies of Microsoft Windows. Some hwve gone to later versions of WSJT-X and fldigi, both of which I am somewhat familiar and successful. To try those first seems prudent for now. I may try yours later.

Was successful today with WS (See picture) but not without hassle I believe caused by Windows OS and not the radio. About the time I think I have the turn on/connect/ enter sequence down pat something seems different!
Trying to establish CAT over the usb cable is prone to interference from what you have had CAT before. It's like there are "leftovers" that interfere with the present task. When shifting to fldigi from WSJT-X the same radio is generally a breeze like with my mcHF clone. But going there with the QMX after the mcHF.. forget about it! The CAT is incomplete with the QMX since here, anyway, frequency is not automatic. Neither is band switching with the computer. -- 73 Karl KI4ZUQ |
开云体育This group may be able to help.
They were where I got the idea of using
the hamlib file from an older version.
It fixed it for me but you do need to
be a bit computer literate to be able to juggle files from
different versions. They think this is OK, maybe you can
demonstrate why it isn't :)
