What is on your work bench ?

Looks like a mock-up for the War of the Worlds movie :-)

All devices are mounted on a surface - my kind of SMD...

Well, I wasn't sure I wanted to chime in, however,? on my 'work' table is the qrpguys 3 band vertical I need to add the torroids to. I have a qrpguys power/swr/Dummy Load on the way; and I have a transciever kit sitting there that was given to me.?

All just waiting for me to tell myself yes. I never learned to be gud at soldering over the years so......

Anyways there you or I have it!!

My main workshop has a recently finished QDX, plus a pixie project I was working on for the W2LCW club (I teach a makers class for them every Wed night). Not sure what to build next, but it will probably be the QRPguys digital transceiver, followed by a classic QCX that I have from an early run.? I have at least 40 other unbuilt kits waiting for attention.

All of that is surrounded by my computer work (MacBook, and a Dell OptiPlex, and whatever I'm repairing), network switch, VOIP adapter, soldering station, 3D printer, and too many kits and components waiting to be organized into the cabinets I have yet to fill up.

Second workbench is in the utility room, and currently has the XYL's (KD2CHE) cat-toxic plants under a grow lite to keep the felines safe, and a partially dissembled Casio Privia digital piano that needs mechanical rebuilding.? Some keys stick, others fail.

Third (Cold) workbench has my backup HF rig (TS-440SAT) and a few VHF/UHF rigs, and a HW-5400 that I'm trying out.? Also an MFJ tuner that needs some work, and several accessories: filters, transverters, and other goodies.

Fourth workbench is piled with sewing and household goods for now, but looking to make it a woodworking area in the Spring.

I can't complain. Lots to keep me busy over the Winter.

I'm building an ATU-10. I've ordered what I can from Aliexpress, and I'll be putting in an order to Digikey and Diz in the near future. Unfortunately, I just took on a part-time position, so I'll have to juggle my projects, my XYL's projects, and actual work. Retirement was great while it lasted.

Does anyone need an ATU-10 board (VK3PE v1.2)? I have extra...

I am building a PSU over Christmas for a couple of HROs I bagged a few months back. The HT transformer was custom wound in China and arrives on Christmas Eve. The HROs
should keep the QCX warm and cosy through winter!

Lots of stuff - some organised, and others less so.

Working on QRP-Labs BPFs and relay board which I am going to incorporate into a home-brew receiver using an H-Mode RF mixer.

Merry Xmas all

I got the January 2022 QST in the mail yesterday. I'm intrigued by the "nano WSPR" transmitter article that uses the small Arduino board and Si5351 synth board of which I have both.

Of course I'll be using QRP Labs LPF of which I have several spares. It'll be fun to poke around in the code.

Nothing on my workbench. ?Biggest issue is what to take for three months on our annual trip south to get emergency treatment for acute vitamin D deficiency and Seasonal Affective Disorder. ? Need to smell the Soldersmoke and build a couple of QRP CW xcvrs while there and then write an article for our club paper to stimulate a few “textbook Extras” to build something when we come back in the spring. ?Many of them can’t even install a PL 259 or an Anderson Power Pole. ?I am leaning towards the Cricket 80 due to its low cost and no toroids to wind. ?Then maybe we can get an 80 meter club CW net going (very doubtful). But just to say they had built an xcvr and maybe even hang it on the wall as proof. ?Ha!

U4B-27 will be off the bench when the clouds clear and the wind drops.
5.55 is the gram weight of the radio payload, less the antenna, which is about .6 grams... for comparison, a fat house sparrow weighs about 40 grams and a skinny one is about 25 grams.

A 1998 U.S. Fender Jazzmaster is on the bench right now for a 3 pickup mod. Not my idea of what to do to an expensive guitar but the customer is always right. Not radio related but at least I get to use the soldering gun hi hi. And then it's on to finally replacing my smoked QCX Mini for 80M.

I got a QDX in the first round, so didn't go for a second one. I'm working toward building a PSSST-20, myself. There's a groups.io group by the same name if anybody is interested. I also designed and had made some prototyping boards that you all might enjoy:

Details here at my site, including a YT video and a link to download the Gerbers or order some from PCBWay.?

But, I need parts before I get the PSSST-20 built. I also have one of PH2LB's crystal tester kits that I just finished last night and am learning to how use for the sake of building my own crystal filter. Fun stsuff!

Frequently my workbench is on my lap in my recliner with the TV on and the XYL complaining about my mess.? We live in a small 1940s era cabin on the shores of Lake Huron with maybe 1000 sq. Ft.? She won't let me use the table so I don't have the lunchtime problem.... my problem occurs anytime I have to stand up.... gotta set everything I'm working on aside.? So Jim, I share your shack/shop envy.? Maybe someday.? Hans' kits are still fun no matter the problems with workspace.

Nice set up! I’m relegated to the kitchen table! Takes forever to drag out test equip & tools…. Then it’s lunchtime ?
