vfo/signal generator #building

?? The VFO signal generator kit comes with a switching LPF? kit and the assembly instructions with it set up a default set of 6 jumpers that need to be installed.? I assume that this is the setup one wants to use if it is going to be installed in the signal generator and not the other device that this document refers to.? Then all one has to do is setup the frequency limits in the setup menu and one is good to go! I just need to verify that this is the correct procedure to making this thing.
??? Also, from looking at the schematic of this signal generator I see that this whole thing is powered by 5Vdc according to the diagram.? I find it kind of strange that this kit uses this supply voltage and all the others, including the ProgRoc, use 12 - 15Vdc. This makes it quite susceptible to using the wrong input power and blowing the whole thing up if one is not careful.

As to the voltage input, the connector is a different size. The 12 v kit connector will not plug into the 5 v kits. I suppose you could fuss around and briefly apply 12v.?

Briefly applying 12 V to a 5 V circuit never ends well. I would suggest using a 7805 device to step the 12 V down to 5 V.

I've converted all my 5 volt kits to 12 v with boost/buck power supplies.

And standardized the connectors to all 5.5/2.1?

And even good old 7805s don't take kindly to reverse polarity.
