U3S20 balloon launched. #case

Who knows at this point ?

Well...no sign of this flight for days.If it went way up into the North...may not be seen for awhile longer.
Could also have landed...just never know with these things.
Miracles happen.
Jim,N2NXZ

If it is still flying, going to be some time before if drops back into the sun light -

This is usually pretty accurate, but hoping not this time :)

Hysplit on the HABHUB mapping shows bad news however. It may vanish a few days.
Could get lucky and get one spot mid day when the sun peaks.
But yes...glad to see it over land somewhere else besides New York :)
Jim

That's a darned good flight already!

It made it across the Atlantic.

:-)

Can not seem to figure out why so few spotting it.Especially on 20m band.
Could be anything happening at this point but hope it holds up awhile longer.
One JT9 spot although several receivers in that area...something is off.

Jim,

Thank you very much.
Have what to read and learn now.

Sadly,WSPRnet went down early this morning and was unable to get new data for today.
Jeff,KP3FT was great at finding the backup JT9 transmissions telling us it was healthy and alive today over the mid N. Atlantic.
Too bad for lack of JT9 receivers...FT8 would have yield a bunch today ,,,hint.

Just to make it clear that this is the standard format for all WSPR stations.
There are 2 transmissions for WSPR and the second is a bit more complicated which contains the altitude,speed/temperature/battery voltage and position.
This is explained here but quite a lot to absorb.

If you are receiving WSPR you will sometimes see "weird" calls igns and wonder what they are. This will explain those if you should happen to spot them.

and

People still ask about the telemetry they receive...hope this helps.
Jim

Johnathan,
You will find these field for all WSPR station in the main database.

Not sure if that link takes you there directly, just select DATABASE in the main menu and you will see the meaning of this data.
I will try to paste them here too -
Timestamp? ?Call ? MHz ? SNR ? Drift ? Grid ? Pwr ? Reporter ? RGrid ? km ? az

Forgive my ignorance.
Dont know how to decode all of the fields.
Where should I look to read up on these transmissions?
My guess are:

first field is date and time (2018-01-02 14:02)? ? ? ? ??
second is callsign? ? (N2NXZ)
third is frequency in Hz? (14.097029)
fourth is ?? ? ? (-22)
fifth is ?? ? ?(-2)
sixth is ?? ? ? ? ?(GO71)?
seventh is ?? ? (0.01)
eighth is ?? ? ? ?(DF2JP)? ??
ninth is Maidenhead (JO31hh)
tenth is ? altitude units ?? ? ? ?(3509)
eleventh is ? speed units ?? (70)?

This is a perfect example as to why I am using JT9 for backup data !
Excellent work Jeff and thank you...you saved a lot of effort from going down the drain :)

Good job and I hope the TELEMETRY data keeps coming...

U3S20 alive and well this morning.? WSPR.net site is down, but the VE3CEA remote spotted it.

Looks like sleepy time...hope to see it appear tomorrow.

Air currents were ideal and glad to get it in the air.
Double edge sword as the same air currents bring terrible launch weather...threading the needle :)

Hysplit shows a straight line to Europe, in just a day and a half.
