Are you using a true peak-reading power meter?

Are you providing audio when measuring power?? A load. long, HEEEEEEEEEELLOOOOOO or better is a tone from a PC speaker.

A useful way to measure true SSB output power from QMX+ is to select the 'two-tone' input, rather than 'ext. mic'.? This puts an almost full scale two-tone audio signal down the SSB path, with sine waves that an external power meter can easily read.
With SSB mic input, the peaks will be at that same level.? Most peak-reading meters are not fast enough to catch the full peak levels of an SSB voice signal.? That is why old-timers whistle into the microphone - the waveform of the whistle is constant enough for a power meter to read.
