QRP LABS enclosure for QCX
Greg W3NW wrote...
QRP Labs enclosure works very well for QCX evenThanks for posting the pics. I ordered the same case and it arrived a few days ago. It looks like there wasn't a lot of room on the sides for the controls, but you got it all in there. I was going to orient the board differently, but the way you have it makes for short connections to the display. -- 73 Keith VE7GDH |
Looks like a great solution Greg.

Looks like Hans better stock up on the case as I for one will be copying this solution. Thanks for the post. 73 James 2E0MUA. On 29 Oct 2017, at 01:14, Keith VE7GDH <ve7gdh@...> wrote: |
Nice work Greg. can you clarify one point. Did you make any circuit changes to incorporate the optical encoder? I was planning to use an optical encoder (5 v) driving the bases of two additional npn transistors configured as open-collector switches. I thought this would be necessary if Hans has programmed internal pull-ups on the A/B lines. Perhaps this is an overkill. Any thoughts would be helpful.

none of that was necessary, Brian. I have already used the same encoder for QRPLabs VFO/Signal Generator with no need for any additional circuitry. I just grabbed +5V from one of the pins of GPS socket and connected the rest of the leads of optic encoder the same way as the mechanical one was connected. Works perfect with no glitches of any kind.

Thanks Greg I have started a new web page? for builders' photos, to give people ideas about how to enclose their QCX radios.? 73 Hans G0UPL On Sun, Oct 29, 2017 at 8:36 PM, Brian George via Groups.Io <george.familyuk@...> wrote: Very helpful Greg - that saves a lot of time.
