I misremembered! It's 4 bits -> 8 bits!

Sorry for the misinformation!

I activated a park (US-5000) with v.023 today. Out in the middle of a large state forest there seemed to be no EM noise: 40m was blissfully quiet except for the signals responding to my CQ. I don't know if it was my location or the firmware update, but the QMX really sounded marvelous and was a pleasure to use. Well, it's pretty much always a pleasure to use.
?
Great work, Hans!
?
On the last update (v.021?) my messages had seemed a little off. So this time I went ahead and did a factory reset and manually re-created my desired settings and re-entered my messages. This might have yielded better (now default) settings for the AGC rather than the experimental ones I'd entered from the forum when it was new.
?
At one point the QMX did freeze as I hit the da paddle to return to someone's call. It was stuck transmitting and wouldn't respond to the paddle or the power button. It did respond to me turning off the power supply, and then booted right back into action. The freeze did not recur. I have no idea what random circumstance might have brought it about.

I had the exact thing happen yesterday on 40m. I was able to shut it down with the left decoder switch.

Random freeze when transmitting also happened to me exactly once, but with firmware 19.
?
Haven't been able to reproduce it; could have been any number of random interferences or firmware issues.

Hi Hans and list.
?
Binaural can mean many things. One meaning is to have different CW filter center frequencies in the different ears, so that the signal of interest sounds like it is in the middle, those lower in pitch end up more on one side and those higher in pitch on the other side. Is this a type of binaural filtering you would implement Hans, or do you mean something else by binaural?

Yes, this is what I was thinking. But if there are other meanings of binaural?that people want, I would consider adding more options.?

100% on adding binaural and how about an all pass/phase rotator on the mic in (not digital audio) lines? I can do it with hardware but if the processor has the horse power¡

You beat me to it, I was about to edit my post on the all-pass/Phase rotator. Here is a primer and I have this board in my audio chain for my main rig. I went to TI.com and modeled a really simple one using an LM13700. I chose a center of 450Hz and 4 poles for a flat response out to 3kHz. This should be mandatory on all radio mic inputs. I get minimal ALC and never need to compress my audio for strong modulation.?

As for the binaural, I¡¯ve always heard it so the tuned station would start low on the left and pan to the center then off to the right ear at the high end of the passband whilst tuning the VFO. The center would be synchronized with your rigs side tone (700Hz etc.) LSB would be backwards with tuning high on the left and low on the right.?
