QLG! GPS question

I bought a finished QLG1 GPS at a Hamfest last weekend. ?It seemed like a good deal at the time and I bought it in part because it had the magic QRP LABS name on it. ?But, at this point I really don't know what to do with it. ?Do I need the WSPR kit? or will this connect to other things? ?Any suggestions will be most appreciated. ?

It is a gps that outputs a standard text string of gps coordinates as well as a 1s pulse via a serial connection on the right side of the board.? The documentation on QRPlabs website is fairly extensive showing how to hook it up to radios (I've used mine with a QCX mini and a OC-7100).

Al. It gives 2 outputs: a one pulse per second signal (very accurate!) and a serial data stream which contains time, date and navigation info such as location.? It's used with various other equipment, for example to calibrate the timing for a QCX running WSPR.

I have 2 that I built into GPS synch'd clocks with the QRP-Labs clock kit. I have another that is connected to my Win10 computer with a serial TTL to USB cable.

With a cable like this the GPS will appear as a computer serial port. I use the data from a "bare" GPS (no clock or additional display) to feed the program NMEATime2 to automatically set my computer time. Great for operating FT8, WSPR etc!

And today I ordered another GPS (This time the current QLG2) that I will use to automatically calibrate my QRPLabs SigGen kit!

I know a bit more than I did before. ?And, I'll dig into the site info to see if my old flakey gray matter can figure out how to connect it. ?Many thanks. ?

Invest in a U3S, which is a practical 0-50Mhz multimode *beacon* TX.
Offers WSPR / JT / CW / Hell / Opera / Pi4 etc mode with no need for a PC.
Then you attach the GPS unit to it for freq calibration and timing.

The U3S is a superb unit, dead simple to build and service.

Be sure to add a case and extra TXCO unit (please read and research how to add this little unit FIRST)
and you be a very happy man.

You'll get a max of 1 watt output, AND THAT REALLY IS ALL YOU NEED.

Have fun.

Keith,
Nice job on the unit.
I used mine in my QRP Labs Clock for the shack.
