QDX that cannot hear very well. #qdx #troubleshooting

I have a QDX that I managed to get together and it powers on.?

I can access it and I have the sound ports from the USB.?

I am amazing it turn red and blow up like my last QCX I built.?

It transmits but does now receive.?

I connected my K2 to 30m and with no antenna and used the antenna to connect to the QDX and I saw the signal and it was strong and good.?

I reversed this and the QDX could barely hear the signal on the K2.?

The K2 can hear many signals and the QDX does not see any when the antenna is attached.?

I ran the sweeps and the first time they run they look OK but not great but then if I run them again even on the same band they look like crap.?

I did not really see any nice step by step troubleshooting guides like I found in the QCX Mini -? do those exist???

I suspect maybe my toroid skills are lacking?? ? But they look nice to my untrained eye.? ?

Any thoughts??

?I have a scope and DMM so if there is anywhere.?

I checked continuity on the last steps to build where I removed the surface mount stuff and added the last pieces.? that all passed.?

First off, did you upgrade the firmware?? It should read version 1_02 in the QDX terminal window.? That is the first step to take as the firmware shipped can lead to finals failure.

Second, you should always do the scans with a 50ohm dummy load attached, as anything else can give unknown results.

It is also a good idea to let us know the specifics of your build:
My QDX Info:
  1. What PC software you are using:?Windows10 Home with all updates using WSJT-X 2.5.2
  2. QDX firmware version you are running:?1_02
  3. Whether you built the QDX for 12V operation (output transformer 3:2) or for 9V operation (output transformer 3:3).? Built for 12 volts
  4. What power supply you are using: voltage, current capability, and whether it is a Linear or Switched Mode type.? 12.2 volt Battery
  5. Now everyone has Rev 1 PCBs, but in the future when Rev 2 comes along, please also state what PCB revision you have.? Rev 1
  6. Also, state any deviations you intentionally made from the manual. We may need to know about your deviations? :-/? The only deviation was to remove the SMD inductors before starting the rest of the build.

As far as I know, there are not any diagnostics yet.
