QCX QSO Party 25th March 2019 #qcx #qrp-dx

I've emailed Bruce to see if we can have the link to 3830 activated.? I'll let you all know when its available.?

Thanks for the Q Carel (PA0CMU) your signal varied from 589 to completely gone but mostly around 559 which I think I sent.? It was my only contact in the session and my first QCX/QCX- nice sounding rig!

Catch you all again later

Hi all

I found condx very difficult here though there were some spots on RBN. I tried both 20m and 40m with lots of CQs, heard no answers...

Only station worked Reinhard DF4TD on 14060 just before the end of the hour, I have no idea whether he was using a QCX or what his power was because signals both ways were so weak.?

After 1400Z I moved down the band a bit and worked Frank OV1CDX on 14014 and later?Alim 4K6FO on 14012.5. Both QRO stations. Frank using 600W? :-O? ?Me my humble QCX of course.?

One contact/ one QCX - 40m; my first QCX contact and about 5th on CW at all. Sorry N3MNT, my fist was a train wreck! Thanks for putting up with me.?

What a great little radio.?

Well, not brilliant but I worked OK1KW (Milan), R1OAE (Yuri) and 9H3FC (Kris) on 20m with the QCX from 1300-1400UTC.
Kris was also running 3W from an Elecraft K2 I think. Much QSB!

In the 1300Z session, 2 watts from my QCX-30 and 50m long doublet at 7m agl made it to 3 stations in Europe, best dx 1375 km.? Only heard those 3, bad QSB.? Sadly no QCXs but happy with that overall.

Hi All,
Been looking forward to todays QSO party but almost nil heard on 40 meters so went up to 20 meters where conditions sounded better. Called throughout the band but no contacts, also no reports of my signals on RBN. Back down to 40 where I caught the taillend of DK4RW/G0ILN. Couldn't hear G0ILN but managed QSO with DK4RW/Wolf in Frankfurt even though I was somewhat out of time. It was about 1420z. Still it's my first QCX to QCX QSO and I'll be on again at 1900z. Thank you Wolf for putting up with my awful morse.

go t good feedback from reverse Beacon? on 20 even from US but no one heard.

Hans was calling a lot bur could not hear me as well as EA2CA.
Finally got 9H3FC Kris and UN7NFD Galym both non QCX but QRP.

Kris tried to call Hans as well but was not heard.

Not time at 19 utc and 3 UTC is useless on 20 I believe. So next try in April.

I had 3 contacts on 40m during 1300z session.? No confirmed QCX.? Heard lots of activity, probably could have made a few more contacts if I had not been so chatty and if QRM had been less.? 3 states: TN, MI, VA, with VA being longest haul this time at 1102 mi (abt 1800 km).

Good morning, Peter¡ª

Are you the person I saw in an earlier post stating you were an advisor with ?CW ops? If so, is this a program I can do on my own? I still have 2 years before mandatory retirement and work afternoon/evening schedule. ?Are there ever any ,morning classes? Any other information/tips/guidance you can provide regarding the classes or learning cw would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Walter Rook

Hi Eric
Yes, you can work the same stations again in the next time slot.? And the same station on different bands in the same time slot.? Thanks for the swl rprt.? Hope to catch you at 1900.

Hi Walter
Yes, I am a CWops advisor.? You are welcome to access the course materials and work through the manual yourself.? The advantage of doing the course is that there are small groups working together all at more or less the same stage and the advisor can encourage, guide and help overcome the various very common hurdles that can cause bad habits or put people off learning altogether.? Practice is the main thing and there aren't any real shortcuts but CWA provides a supportive framework in which to do it.??

The resources are here:??

There isn't a simple answer to the morning course question.? We have advisors all over the world so you could request a class that happens in your morning irrespective of what time it is for the advisor and the other students.? Also there are a lot of retired students and advisors so you could write in via the form on the website and ask or suggest a morning course.

It is a fantastic series of courses and you are very welcome to apply.

By 0300 UTC, I expect 40 meters to be long and weak in central Virginia. But... we'll see!

Hi all

1900Z session was very busy here on 40m in TA4-land! It sounded like there was lots of activity in our QSO party, with many QSOs going on around 7030. In some cases I heard multiple stations on identical frequencies and it was impossible to pick out who was who. I could not find any free spot to CQ on so I enjoyed surfing around a kHz or two either side and picking out QSOs when I could. Stations worked:

DL2DBU Norbert?
UV7QG Gena
OK2BQN?Zdenek with QCX 5W
SM6JWR Klas with QCX
US5XD Vic
F5JKK Eric with QCX 4W

After-party (by just a few minutes): EA2KV Jose with QCX 5W

Just a few minutes after Jose EA2KV I heard VK3CWB calling CQ on 7031... of course he did not hear my reply. Or maybe he could have done but it was drowned out by IU0JFZ (QRO I guess).

So... 6 stations worked, of which 3 were QCXs. All sounded beautifully excellent even though I do say so myself. And FOUR QCXs if you count Jose in the after-party! I'm so happy to QSO with so many QCX stations.?

I will join the 0300Z session also, on 40m only. I will listen first. If nothing heard, then since the QRG around 7030 may be busy in US, if it seems clear at 7033 or 7034 in my QTH I will CQ up there.?

Had a nice chat with my QCX-20 (14.060) while using my 3-el tri-band Yagi up at 18m high with NA5N, Paul in NM at 1915utc today.? Paul was using a kx2 and my sig report was 459.? Otherwise, did not hear any other signals at this time.?

No luck on 40 during 1900Z but no surprise in US.?

Hi, here's my contribution for the 1900z QCX QSO Party.

1905z F5JKK/Eric QCX 4 watts. ? 40 meters.
1922z SM6JWR/Klas QCX 5 watts. ? 40 Meters.

Both of these from my QCX putting out 5 watts into a long wire loop about 30 meters in length.
