QCX Off Board Mounting wire

What gauge wire should I use for off-board mounting all the controls? I’d like to buy three conductor, braided wire?

thanks in advance.?

Hi Wes,

I used 0.14mm2 which is roughly equal to AWG26. For the supply you might want to use slightly thicker wire, AWG24 will do as it is rated to 2.1 A @ 75degC (typical current draw is 500-600mA while transmitting).

Wes,

I used multi-colored ribbon cable, splitting it up as required, mounting the LCD and controls off board with liberal lengths of cable. All the cables run to DIP pins on the board -- I chopped up female headers to make plugs.? ?I ran the RF out through RG316 (likely a waste of time and effort since 3 or 4 inches of twisted pair at 7 MHz won't change anything) and the power in through heavier red/black wire.?

I found no issues with mounting controls off-board.

?Good luck with your project.

Earl, could you show the front view of your panel mounted QCX? I like the idea of mounting my next QCX that way.
Thanks,
