Check to see if your S-Meter is on.? I noticed this on my QCX-20.? This is a known, documented issue.?? 72; Kurt - W2MW

Kurt, I¡¯m having similar problems with my OCX30. The motorboating is very loud, adjustable with the volume control and can be changed somewhat by adjusting the trimmer pots. I also have no power output. I¡¯ve checked and double checked all of the components, rebuilt T1 windings and cannot locate the problem. I thought I was a fairly good tech, but this has me really stumped. I¡¯ve touched up all of the solder joints, too.
I can hear the sidetone but don¡¯t really hear the alignment tone because of the motor boating. I¡¯ve also tried the S-meter with no success. 73 Rich W4WU |
Group. The amplitude bar is moving constantly. If I place my finger on T1 or C1 the amplitude in the headset gets very loud and the LCD number on the top right increases to 03. I am able to tune C1 for minimum noise. I can hear the 20 mg xtal in my state of the art xceiver , ICOM 735. LOL. I re soldered practically all points on the bottom. When I transmit E'S or T's they are displayed on the LCD. Constant noise or motor boating noise. Ask me some questions please! Thanks! Glen N8WE

Glen,
Have you checked the voltages in that area near the filter and PA? My alignment meters were all but steady before developing the motorboating. Now the meters bounce about 1/4 the bottom line and I can't really mess with them more. Unfortunately I am away from my QCX until Sunday, so I have nothing but Wild guesses until then. I have my suspicions, but I need to check from the audio up and then from the antenna connector back. Best of luck 73 de Jacob AG7CT |
