protective cover for mini qcx
Hello. My main concern was dust on the display. Then wiping it clean, and then scratching it over time. Since the mini is pocket size, it may be put in the pocket. Good place for dust. I took a cell phone cover, clear, cut to size and put holes in it. This material of which I thought would cut with scissors, doesn't. I used a sharp new razor. The material is thermoplastic polyurethane. My pencil tip iron did not work for making the holes. Just the properties of the plastic. What does work is a leather hole punching tool. These holes show, the two middle holes, but you have room for error on the knob holes.? Resourcefulness is what is needed here. No leather punch large enough for the knob holes. I got one of my brass shells - 45 S&W. On a piece of steel, with a hammer, I gave it two whacks and it cut a perfect hole through that rubbery material. What would work best would be to come across this plastic in sheet form and cut it with a lazer gun. I am happy with the results. 73, sreed. kf7yff.

This seems to be a problem in US-America only!? I could not 'buy' any weapon or amunition here in EU egaly! So I have to look for an alternative way, to open the 'holes' in the plastic sheet, ... ! Maybe a sharp knife, ... Oh wait! No blade on that knife should be longer than 7cm. It's not allowed to have such a 'long knife', even it is a 'Schweizer Taschen-Messer' in the EU.? ?- Problem (nearly) solved! -? No legal weapons, no legal amunition, no dead people in the streets, nor children in schools! If it where that easy, ... ! (nearly!)? - Ironie switched off again: -? Merry christmas to all, happy season greetings, in what ever you believe, or prefer, ... !? ?- And a Happy New Year, for all of you, and the beloved people around you. -? 73 de Markus ; db9pz? |
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýPat,?Your comment about the shells brings back a memory. ?As a youth probably in early bot scouts we made a visit to the sheriffs office for a tour. After being shown all the armaments available to them the officer gave each of us an empty rifle shell¡¡ later I was heating something in my chemistry set using the shell as a test tube¡¡ and BANG! ?the shell still had the primer left in it. ?The primer blew out and broke some glass in my chemistry set but no harm to me. ?My mother wasn¡¯t home so I got away with that one¡.. alive. ?Some of us do have a guardian angel. ¿ªÔÆÌåÓýOn a side note, a friend of mine used to reload .223 with a Lee Loader kit.? Once while priming a case he got a bit over-enthusiastic with the hammer and tool used to seat the primer and BANG!? He said it only happened once, and boy was he glad that case wasn't charged!!? He promptly acquired a hand primer from Lee. 73, John W4CWZ On 12/14/2021 6:17 PM, Shawn Reed via

Hi HAMs, Many thanks for question =) Today I've got that I don't like in QCX mini enclosure. This is rectangle hole for LCD display. Using small cat of plexiglass I circled rectangle hole and created scratches for next cuts (breaks) of plexiglass. Than with help of sandpaper polished sides to tight fit of rectangle hole for LCD. Here is what I've got. Than I am planning to fix it using superglue and probably duct tape on inner side. |

I have brass laying all over my office.? I've used shells as pry bars, screwdrivers, and likely as a hole punch too, but mostly as fidgety widgets while I am on work calls.?? Nice job on your protective case.? In fact, all of you guys are doing a good job.?? |
Hello, to our friend in EU. What? Not even a swiss army knife? I would go to a flake of obsidian. I've mentioned before - the sharpest tool around.? No ammo? they are squeezing us for the ammo here. An armed society is a polite society. This govt. here would have me believe that if I were to surrender my weapon, my gun, that they would become "Johnny on the spot" to protect me. No one with any sense will fall for that promise. (I hope). Once they de-arm you....... Freedom. You are welcome to come here but it is always a sacrifice and battle, with a price, to keep the freedom held. One cannot give up freedom and ever expect to have it returned.? Thank you for your generous and thoughtful gift of wellbeing for America, and all those around the globe. The same to you. And humor is always welcome here. (I say it to Pat also). Can't live without it. Figuring out where humor comes from, it becomes an absolute necessity to bring it with you. People get along fantastic, with a smile.?? Iron still on?? ?Enjoy!? 73, sreed. kf7yff. |
