Power supplies

I had a bunch of saved tabs and lost them.? I think I recall that there was a post with some discussion on power supplies and how to build/make one for a QDX/QMX/QCX?? As I recall there was some info on the QRP-LABS site but I could not find it.

If anyone knows what I am talking about and can point me in the right direction, I would be thankful.

I use this range which seem largely noise free and 24/7 reliable so far. 9v is fine for the power levels I use and gives enough headroom for the 5V regulators in QCX+ etc

I go for the 2pin C8 connector (double insulated type) to avoid ground loops as the gear is always grounded in other ways already?

(Aware that you could make one but as these are about $15 it¡¯s barely economic to buy the parts, cables and a box unless you really want to Do it yourself or go for a linear design that probably needs earthing)?

I have lots of wall warts.? I may be remembering wrong, but I thought there was an article or amendment on one or several of the install instructions on either a power supply filter or how to build a power supply... maybe it was just an "good to know" about power supplies.

Hey Bob,?
Please check each wall wart that you might think of using.? Many are not regulated, and produce unloaded voltages far in excess of the numbers on the case.? There have been issues here on the list before where someone's new QxX died because of an over voltage situation.

The MeanWell unit described looks like a wonderful solution, regulation etc and a nice package and price.

Thanks for the meanwell recommendation.?? I think I found the post I was looking for it was a new way to sire the transformer for the CDX/CMX by twisting the wires.? I have a power pole distribution set with several different curr3ent/fuses.? I will probably run that into a buck converter.? I also have plans to run on leg of it to about a foot long distribution hub with barre land jst connectors and a switch to choose 5V, 9v, 12V.? But with all the projects I have going I may never get to it.

Thanks to all those who tried to help,
