New QMX build displays only squares

开云体育

Greetings all. My first QMX build was an abject failure. I just finished a new rev.3 QMX build and I am able to flash the firmware ??♂? but all I get is squares along the top line of the display. I reflashed fw 1.0.17 but I get the same results. Pressing the left rotary button power's it on, as it should but will not power it off. I'm open to troubleshooting ideas from here, thank you all. I think I'm close this time ?

Did you adjust the brightness of the screen? There's a step in the manual for rotating the screw on the left of the display until letters become comfortably visible apart from background. Do you have pictures?

Yes, I have done that, but no cigar.

It usually means that the power or signal is not getting to the display board. Recheck the connections - it's easy to miss one of the those 16 cutoff connections - must be soldered on both boards. Also, double check the display header connectors to the main board.

Another thing that apparently can show all squares is copying the zip for the firmware to the device instead of unzipping it and dragging the actual file.

Thank you all for your input. It was suggested to check all the connections to the power supply boards, which I did. I had left the connection unsoldered near the power input as suggested in the directions (so no short to the power connector) but after carefully soldering that connection voila! I now have a fully functional QMX. Hooray!!! I am looking forward to configuring and using this excellent transceiver. Once again, thank you all!!!
