Mini Microphones for QMX SSB
The PUI element sold at Digi-Key is more expensive, and some people say it performs better in the SSB mode with the QMX.
?
The more expensive element is "hotter" AKA more gain (-24dBm vs -58dBm with the SunRom that I am using), so it should require less mic gain adjustment from the QMX.
?
I am still using a less expensive mic element in all the mics that I build. I have had good reports from the elements I am using, which are similar to the less expensive element listed in K6ARKs instructions. (I am using SunRom CZN-15E elements, their data can be seen here: ). Personally I have left the mic gain alone at 50 since I installed the SSB update, and have no problem with these less expensive mic elements picking up my voice. I test each mic I build by transmitting into a dummy load and looking at the waveform and listening on my SDR, on 6m. So far they all make a beautiful pattern in the SDR and have all sounded very nice. I have also had reports from others that they sound beautiful on the air, and so will continue using them because they have proven to work quite well with the current design, and are a cost effective option (and I bought a WHOLE BUNCH of them).

Yes I would like at least 3 please. Are these interchangeable with QMX, QMX+ and the (tr)uSDX?? I would like 1 for each radio. I'm elderly now and have some vision difficulties & a bit past my prime in building stuff. So how much is the cost how do I go about purchasing them from you? Please advise 73 Sir de Jim Holt, KM6MO in Bakersfield Ca On Mon, May 19, 2025, 09:59 Erik Larson via <kd7ykq=[email protected]> wrote:

I' sending out a batch of mics today. I still have parts for more if anyone is still wanting one. I have shipped a few to EU/UK, but shipping is prohibitive. I can put 4 mics in a bubble mailer and stay under the 3 oz limit for first class mail, and one mailer going First Class costs me between $20 and $25 to get it to Canada or UK or EU. |
