#key #qmx QMX Straight Key Mode incorrect

Hans,
The standard way to connect a straight key is to connect it to the tip and sleeve. The QMX Straight Key Mode is supposed to do that, but when selecting 'Tip" it does not work and instead the "Ring" is active. To use the standard connections I need to select "Ring". The logic is reversed in the QMX. Gary W9TD |
Hi Gary,
thanks for posting that - I second your findings. I had posted a description in the "ALPHA 1_00_015" topic [1] together with some other thoughts, where Adrian YO3GFH's answer led me to thinking it was me doing sth wrong :). As at that time Hans was busy fixing the keyer (... and that it's just a mislabeled config) I didn't bother to dig deeper. 73 de Cedric DJ3CE [1] /g/QRPLabs/message/117466 |
开云体育Yes, that one had me questioning my sanity when I first connected the straight key. Ring is tip and tip is ring! J ? 73, -Lloyd ? ? From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Gary W9TD ? It works correctly with a paddle but the ring/tip option for a straight key is wrong. |
First time installment of a firmware on a new QMX (no EEPROM file) will not initalize all menu settings correctly. In the menu the keyer setting defaults to straight and tip.
Change it to to e.g. iambic a and ring and leave the menu. Then reenter the menu and revert the keyer setting back to straight and tip. HTH Gottfried |
