Is it possible to run the QMX without the SMPS boards?

My SMPS boards are fried (QMX rev 1 tantalum breakdown described in another thread).
There are no shorts to ground on 3.3V, 5V, or 12V rails.
I tried powering using external supplies for the three power rails.
The serial port works and I can see the hardware diagnostics screen.
But the rig is stuck on the HW diagnostics screen and will not boot the rest of the way up.
Is it possible to fully boot the QMX without the SMPS boards installed?
Thanks.

I'm running my QMX with home made power supplies that replace the SMPS power controllers, these use two TO220 sized linear regulators.? It all works except that I don't have the power on/off control.
?
I've built this on strip board to fit where the SMPS controllers fitted.
?
The only down sides are that it takes more power and gets a little warm, neither are show stoppers for me

Doesn't it also prevent the QMX from saving current settings? If so, then you would not save frequency, etc. and when you turn it on again, you'd have to input everything again.

Hi Chris,
?
How do you get past the initial SMPS fault that stops the QMX at the hardware diagnostics screen?
My QMX stops when the firmware determines that the boards are not present as described in the manual:

I ordered replacement SMPS boards a few days back and I want to get a head start on any additional troubleshooting that may be needed for the rest of the transceiver while I wait on the order.
