Well I got the special cable as specified, turned on VOX, turned off Cat time out On my 20-10 meter QMX V3.
For reference I have a Apple SE 2nd gen phone that is upto date on software.
I can receive terrific, but when I try to transmit I get output (4w 20 m) for a second or two and then it stops.

Can there be another setting I must modify???
Played with changing? the gain without success.
Also insured there was enough power to keep the phone happy to no avail.
Is there anyone out there that has figured this problem out?

Sounds like RF may be getting into your USB connection.? Does this occur when transmitting into a dummy load?

I put a clamp on ferrite on the cable?at the radio end. Also you need to be using .17 firmware
